Understanding Promotional Products

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Promotional products offer a unique opportunity to get your company's name out to its target market. It is a refreshing alternative information based promotion. Promotional products are products which bear your logo and contact information.

Promotional items selection is only limited by your imagination and creativity. Products range from popular goods such as calendars, coffee mugs, and baseball caps to innovative items like candy and nuts, toy cars and trucks, stadium blankets and first aid kits. But the first thing to understand is who you want to attract with a particular item.

Your target demographic depends on what you have to offer. You probably want to narrow down the demographic from simply using gender and age. You may need to focus on people with a specific hobby. Or, if you would like to attract more families to your restaurant, then setting up a family friendly kids play area stocked with inexpensive promotional toys might be an idea.

Another aspect of targeting your promotion is to understand what it is you are trying to accomplish. Are you trying to build awareness of your company? Boost sales? Or perhaps you just want a way to thank your customers? This will affect your choice of promotional products.

The next thing you need to consider when picking promotional products is to decide on how much you want to spend. Your budget will ultimately determined the quality of the items you select and how many you can by.

Do not put your company name on cheap products if you are highly targeting a specific demographic, or existing customers. However, if your audience is largely not targeted, you should consider inexpensive items. An example of this is participation in a parade. In this case you may want inexpensive trinkets with your company logo and information to toss to the people lined up watching the parade.

Of course the most important thing about a promotional product is to have your company information accurately represented on the product. This includes your company name, logo and website.

Another criteria for selecting your promotional products is the choice of colors available. Since you will be using your company logo, and perhaps other images, you want the colors that you use for printing and the product to be consistent with your company branding. Of course image size is restricted by product size as well. A small product may require great creativity to get your logo and company information on it.
