Understanding Search Engine Optimization: The Link Wheel

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

While you are waiting for the link wheel to work its magic, it is important to continue to add useful and unique content to your site. Not only will this enhance the utility of your site for visitors, but it will speed up the process of improving your overall ranking in the search engines. While a link wheel may help draw traffic, there is no substitute for hard work. When I delve into a topic, I usually like to read extensively and commit a lot of the information to memory for use at a later time. I have just recently begun reading about internet marketing and search engine optimization and came across a topic that I found very interesting. I would like to share that concept with you in this article. It is the concept of the link wheel.

If you have a website that you would like to promote and for which you would like to obtain traffic, one of the most important ways to accomplish this is through the use of backlinks. Not only do you enhance your traffic as people run across these links and click on them, but the search engine spiders see these links, and the position of your website in the search engines can be enhanced as well.

Writing Unique Articles at Multiple Sites

The whole concept of a link wheel is fairly descriptive. You can think of your main website as the central point of the wheel or the hub. The various articles that you write to promote your site are the spokes of the wheel with one way links pointing to the hub website. The spoke articles should also point in a one way direction around a circle toward the next article in the series with the last article pointing to the first spoke article.

For example, if you want to promote your affiliate marketing online store about gardening, you could write an article about gardening roses and place it on HubPages. That article should have a link pointing in one direction to your store. Next, you could write an article about organic gardening and place it on InfoBarrel with a link to your store and a link to the HubPages article. You would want to keep up the process until your last article, at which time, you would edit your HubPages article adding a second link to the last article in your series. This is why it is useful to have multiple accounts at different content sites. When you are finally ready to take the plunge and promote your site, you already have an idea how each site works.
