Some offshore petrol platforms are higher than a 5 storey building and that is not something you can move around like a toy. There is also the problem of dealing with downtime and the loss of income. With that in mind, there are a lot of repairs that are carried out offshore and under water. It might surprise you to know that it is possible to do underwater welding.
