Underwater welders make a great deal of money for their dangerous jobs. Individuals who want to become underwater welders also have to undergo rigorous training. Keep reading to learn about underwater welding schools and what it takes to get trained to land a job that pays so well.

Underwater welding schools are going to be training their students in multiple venues. First of all, there's learning how to weld–that's one thing in and of itself. Students will usually get an option of which kind of welding certificate they want to get (mig, tig, ect.).

The next element of an underwater welding school is that they need to train their students in proper diving practices. It is extremely important that someone knows all the idiosyncrasies and safety practices of diving before they ever get into the water, let alone before they get onto a hazardous jobsite where they are trying to weld.

Then comes the complicated part; an underwater welding school has to, obviously, teach individuals how to do their trade while underwater.

Modern Marvels helps you brush up on the history and theory of all different types of welding; informative, fascinating, impressive.

The most important thing that you can do in choosing underwater welding training is to make sure that the Institute that you choose is certified by the American Welding Society. You don't want to go through all that training and spent all that money on tuition just to get a degree or certificate from the school that is not backed by the AWS.

Underwater welding schools are not overly common, and they are really not overly inexpensive either. It's important to realize that an underwater welding school is really not your only pathway into this career.

Another option you have to becoming eligible for underwater welding jobs is going to be by getting your welding certificate and your diving certificate in 2 different locations.

This is actually a really good option if you are either already a licensed commercial diver, or a certified welder. If you already have either one of these things, you really only need to focus on getting whichever one you're missing.

What it takes to become a certified welder: in order to get your welding certificate, you can either go to a welding school, or a much less expensive technical college in order to get the degree you need. This will take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on your credit load and which kind of certification you end up going after.

Becoming a commercial diver: becoming a commercial diver is necessary for getting underwater welding jobs. You can find a diving school and get a commercial diver license typically in under 2 years.

If you already have your welding certificate and are interested in doing underwater welding jobs, it would be worth your while to start working welding jobs while taking your commercial diving courses.

This way, you get valuable work experience under your belt while you are training to be able to dive. This will look excellent on your resume and really help you out when you go to actually start looking for underwater welding jobs.

As you can tell, there are many different ways to become trained for underwater welding careers. Be sure to weigh all options before making any big decisions.
