Use A Sleep Apnea Machine

People who use a sleep apnea machine typically find that their quality of sleep increases dramatically over what they can experience themselves without the aide of a sleeping device. Most people who need a sleep apnea machine go years without one because they either don’t realize there is a problem with their sleep quality or they go without because they don’t want to admit that they need a sleep apnea mask or other kind of device.

Sometimes the cost of the machine is a barrier to entry as well but the bottom line is that these machines offer far more value than the cost implies. One’s pride may decline slightly if use of a sleep apnea machine is required but the quality of life experienced by the sudden higher quality sleep experienced more than makes up for it.

Obstructive sleep apnea can either hit people very obviously or it can sneak up on people without them ever knowing about it. The typical demographic that develops sleep apnea symptoms are middle aged to older people who are overweight however many young people and thin people develop the condition as well. Often when the sleep apnea symptoms are not obvious, such as waking up in the middle of the night to breathe or experiencing extreme snoring, these people do not even realize they have sleep apnea. They do not realize the benefits they can experience by using a sleep apnea machine.

The machine is basically a breathing mask which allows air to enter the airways more easily. As sleep apnea symptoms get progressively worse the apnea mask begins forcing air into the lungs at a greater pressure. If the pressure is not great enough the throat collapses and not enough oxygen enters the lungs. This is similar to what happens to people who suffer from allergies. The allergies cause the lungs and airways to inflame and partially block the flow of air making breathing difficult. Allergy sufferers combat this with a combination of medication and air purification systems such as a true HEPA filter. By supporting a clear airway via filtration for allergies and forced air for sleep apnea both conditions are relieved.

Using a sleep apnea machine for the first time may be slightly uncomfortable. Unlike popping a pill or running an idle purification system in the home the sleep apnea mask must be worn while sleeping. The mask covers the face enclosing the nose and mouth so that air does not escape but is forced into the lungs. Despite the uncomfortable nature of the mask people with sleep apnea symptoms will often find so much relief do to the improved quality of sleep that the mask becomes a delight. Increased air quality at night lowers stress and fatigue during the day. The immune system is strengthened and all the many stressors on the body due to poor sleep quality are relieved.

A consistent good night’s sleep is something that is worth so much more than pride or even a little money. If you have sleep apnea or think you might, even if you simply sleep poorly and don’t know why you may benefit from seeing a sleep specialist. You might find that the use of a sleep apnea machine will help you sleep better and life a more productive and enjoyable life.
