Volkswagen: The People's Wagon

The original Volkswagen Beetle was actually produced and initiated by the one and only Adolf Hitler who wanted a vehicle that every German could afford. This was because the country had hit an economic depression after the First World War. The manufacturer and designer of the affordable new vehicle was none other than Ferdinand Porsche who was later responsible for the entire Porsche brand of luxury cars.

The Beetle was designed with a rear engine and a comfortable interior that could hold a maximum of two adults and up to three kids. That was the size of the average family of the time. Since it was affordable, they had thousands of these cars built for people to purchase. As a matter of fact, the word Volkswagen itself means, 'the people's car' or more specifically 'the people's wagon'. Even with the increasing popularity of the newer models that VW launches, the love of the old models of VW cars is highly prominent. There is a big population out there that prefer to buy a used VW, just so they could drive an older model.
There are several used Volkswagen dealers in Arizona, if you live in or around the state. Careful consideration should be given in the choice of dealership one chooses to purchase a new or used VW car.

Benefits of a Used VW

You can find a used VW that is forty- fifty years old in prime condition just about anywhere these days. You may think that a used car that that old at some Volkswagen dealers in Arizona may be a bad purchase idea. You might want to think again. These cars were designed to be sturdy and long lasting. When they were first released they were advertised by showing a Beetle driving over a rough sand dune and still going steady. If you prefer something that is a few years old, then you could easily find those models at used Volkswagen dealers in Arizona.
  • A model such as the old Beetle may require a little fixing but with its back engine design and easy maintenance requirements you can still expect it to work perfectly fine.
  • These cars are good on gas mileage. They give at least forty miles per gallon on city roads. That is a good fifteen miles more than what your average car could give. These days with modern changes you can only expect up to twenty eight miles per gallon but that is still eight or nine miles more per gallon than what the average car gives.
  • Another benefit is that you can get these durable, fun, and stylish cars for a very low price. You can find an old VW from the many Volkswagen dealers in Arizona for a price no higher than $18,000. That is already for a relatively new VW Beetle. If you are going to go for a Volkswagen Passat or a Phaeton then you can expect the prices to jump a little bit higher but for a used model you can expect the prices to sit relatively under $30,000.
  • Lastly you can be sure of your safety. A used VW is still a factory manufactured Volkswagen and that means you still get all of the reinforced safety measures. A certified pre-owned car will ensure manufacturer warranty. These cars are known for being some of the safest cars on the road. You get doors that carry steel reinforcements, reflectors built onto the doors, and daylight running lights.

If you were to get only one used car in your life then a used VW, is definitely is smart choice. The Volkswagen was designed to be safe, durable, practical, and affordable, keeping the style factor high. Through the years it has proved these points with flying colors and truly stands as the people's car. With their popularity all it takes is a simple click to find a list of Volkswagen dealers in Arizona and you'll be on your way to owning a car worthy of its name.

I absolutely love the VW beetle! I remember awhile back a group of young women who owned beetles got together and formed a group called "Lady Bugs." I was so bummed that I didn't own a VW so I couldn't join. Great article, and your photo is adorable! "Thumbs-Up!"
