Useful Garage Storage Systems
The garage has become an interesting aspect of home ownership. All at once it represents how wealthy we are, and how much we own, by the fact that we have a room for all the misc. stuff we own. And at the same time, you can see just how much wealth we have by how little our items are cared for once they make it into the garage. Yes, folks, it's true, we all know it - the garage is the spot we tend to place our items that otherwise have no home, but we still want to keep! In other words, many things are just one step away from the trash bin once they are in the garage. But instead, they will stay in that garage for years to come.
Unless you take charge and set up working system for storing items in the garage! This is sometimes referred to as garage storage systems, or simply, as garage storage. It's also referred to "being smart" and "taking care of your things." :)
There is no need to suffer with a junked up garage. Take a Saturday and make an afternoon of it. I suggest first going through all the garage belongings and taking a well thought out inventory. What have you used before? What have you never used? What will you never use? What in the world is this? And so on. Sort things out like so until you can make some intelligent decisions regarding what serves a purpose and should be put back into the garage, and what serves no useful purpose in your life and can be sold, donated to charity, thrown in the trash, or given to a friend or someone needy.
Once this assessment is made, it's much easier to paint a clear picture of what kind of garage storage systems set up is needed to organize your stuff. Take inventory and what's going to go back in and map out what can be stored and how. Consider what you will need to buy to do this. Perhaps buying a solid garage storage cabinet will take care of half the items, and then a half dozen hooks will take care of the tools, and then, for example, a sports storage bench will take care of the kids items. (And don't forget a garage bike rack, too - unless you want the kids bike to stay on its side in the middle of the garage!)
Once you've taken a breather and gotten things under control, the garage will go from a dumping groups to a working room, a place where everything has a home and you can actually find what you need. Like getting a cell phone, once you have an organized garage, you can never go back to the day you didn't have an organized garage!
