I was born in Cardiff, Wales and my parents named me Steven Leslie Andrews (shortened to Steve Andrews), though I am mainly known by my stage name Bard of Ely.  I was given this title by Big Issue Cymru magazine in which I once had a column, and when I was living on the Ely estate.
I am a freelance writer, singer-songwriter, author, poet and naturalist. I have worked as a TV presenter for BBC Choice for two series of the magazine In Full View in the late 1990s and been a compère at Glastonbury Festival, at which I have also performed on several occasions.
I am the author of Herbs of the Northern Shaman (Moon Books).  I have a new book Herbs of the Sun, Moon and Planets being published in 2016.
I lived in Tenerife in the Canary Islands since the end of 2004 supporting myself mainly as a writer but have since moved to Portugal in 2014. I have contributed to many publications including Kindred Spirit, Prediction, Permaculture, Welsh Coastal Life, Mediterranean Gardening and Outdoor Living, as well as Living Tenerife magazines and the Tenerife News and Tenerife Weekly newspapers.

The mind of God as opposed to that of the human - how does God think?

Although it is said that God made man in his own image the mind of the Creator and that of the human seem vastly different. It can be assumed that everything which was created is of importance and serves a function in the creation or why was it made? Poet William Blake gave a lot of thought to this matter.

Tenerife pyramids pose a mystery that's still unresolved

Tenerife in the Canary Islands has a number of mysterious pyramids that some say were built by the Guanches who inhabited the island before the Spanish Conquest but academics do not accept this and say the constructions were made by farmers clearing their land of rocks. Most of the pyramids are in the town of Güímar and were thought to be authentic by the late Thor Heyerdahl.

Plastic is a serious threat to whales that swallow it

Plastic is a serious danger to many marine animals and seabirds because they swallow it after mistaking it for food. Plastic is increasingly polluting the oceans where it doesn't biodegrade but breaks into smaller and smaller floating pieces. It is killing whales, turtles and birds such as albatrosses, as well as entering the food chain all the way up to us.
