What is in a Promissory Note?

Many people sign debt documents otherwise known as promissory notes. These written obligations to pay money generally all follow a similar format. The parties are listed and the principal amount of the debt. The promissory note will say how interest is calculated and when payments are due. Most notes also have an acceleration clause making the entire debt immediately due and payable in the event of an uncured default.

How Do Dollar Stores Make Money?

Dollar stores are multiplying quickly these days. If everything in each of these stores is so cheap, then how do they make money? For at least some of the merchandise, they are really offering a great deal, it's just the packaging is smaller. Some of the products are sold for less due to good wholesale buying. The one buck retailers also have certain niche markets, like party supplies. The big box guys like Walmart and Target are feeling the heat, as are the drug store chains. The $1 retailers want to be the "fill in" shopping destination of choice.

The Toilet on TV: A Seldom Seen Game of Thrones

Although we all deal with the toilet on a daily basis, the toilet is seldom seen or discussed on television. The first scene on network TV involving a commode was in 1957 on Leave It to Beaver. In the early 70's, Archie Bunker talked of using the throne and we actually heard one flush on television. Since then, we've had Jerry Seinfeld dropping his soon to be ex-girlfriend's toothbrush in the toilet and now we have the Duck Dynasty guys giving us more toilet information than we really need.

Green Fitness Ideas

Green fitness ideas are those types of fitness practices which fit into an eco-friendly lifestyle.  We all do things that leave a heavy carbon footprint.  Although we do things which are not helpful for the environment, many of us try to be as thoughtful as possible in our everyday life with respect to the environment. We need to be mindful of what is eco friendly to go green in our fitness activities.

Things to Buy at a Dollar Store: When Price is More Important Than a Name Brand

When considering things to buy at a dollar store, you need to concentrate on product categories in which price is the major consideration instead of a particular name brand. Your list of things to buy at a dollar store should include cleaning products, thank you cards, hair accessories, canned goods, plastic food storage containers, paper plates and party supplies, some personal care products, crossword puzzles and candy. You need to walk into the store with your list of things to buy.

Making Sense of Net Neutrality Part 3: The Battle Ahead is Going to be Another Partisan Squabble

The recent Verizon decision announced by the Federal Court of Appeals has created much concern over loss on net neutrality. The court stuck down the FCC's internet traffic anti-discrimination rules applicable to broadband internet service providers (ISP's). The FCC has expressed a desire to undertake new rulemaking, but does not appear willing to classify broadband ISP's as basic service providers, which could lead to the same place again. Congressional action to resolve the situation appears unlikely on partisan grounds.

Dress for Your Man: Simple Rules to Please the Man You've Got or the One You Want

Dress for your man when you go out instead of dressing to impress your girlfriends. If you haven't found the man you want, then dress to attract men instead of pleasing your friends. We don't really notice accessories like purses and whether or not they match your shoes and bracelets. Keeping it simple is best so we see you instead of getting lost in the patterns and fashion design. If you girls are going out with your man or going out to find a good one, you should dress in a way that men like instead of dressing for your girlfriends.  Your girlfriends most likely prefer a different style than men. ...

Tinnitus Treatment with Gingko Biloba: Does it Work?

Natural tinnitus treatments are available for its millions of sufferers. Given the wide range of causes, there is not a one size fits all type of treatment. Gingko biloba is a natural treatment for mental disorders such as dementia. The plant has been used to treat various disorders for many years. The scientific community is mixed on use of gingko biloba to treat tinnitus symptoms; however a recent compilation study notes the benefits of EGb 761 standardized extract.

Making Sense of Net Neutrality Part 2: The Verizon Court Decision

Many commentators on the internet have expressed alarm over the recent Verizon decision by the DC court of appeals which struck down the FCC's net neutrality regulations. The Verizon court said the regulators had the statutory authority to regulate broadband ISP's under the Telecommunications Act of 1996 but the agency exercised such authority incorrectly. They regulated the broadband companies like common carriers when they had classified them otherwise.

Making Sense of Net Neutrality Part 1: Identify the Players

I'm trying to understand who is who in the discussion of net neutrality. Understanding the players is necessary to get a grip on what is going on and the impact of a potential loss of net neutrality on all of us. The ISL's are the internet service providers. Major internet service providers now are the broadband ISL's, such as Comcast. A recent court decision struck down the FCC's regulations governing the broadband ISL's.

College Football Coaches Need to Stop Promoting "Player Safety" Rule Changes Beneficial to Themselves

News reports describe the advocacy of rule changes by Nick Saban and Brett Bielma in order to prevent offensive snaps of the football in the first ten seconds of the play clock. This advocacy is based on "player safety" grounds. If these coaches are truly concerned with player safety they would consider implementing rules to establish better concussion protocols and do something about the excessive weight of many players, which leads to ill health after football.

Should I Buy a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer or a Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor?

Two popular centrifugal juicers on the market are the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer and the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor. The two machines are somewhat similar. To choose between them you should look at price, noise, durability and ease of use. The Hamilton Beach model is much better in terms of price and durability. The machines are very similar in the other two categories of review.

Product Review for BG MOA 110 Oil Treatment: Be Good to Your High Mileage Vehicle

My pickup truck has many miles on it. I was concerned it was time for a trade in last year when it began to run rough and sputter. My neighborhood mechanic suggested I use BG MOA #110 oil treatment supplementation to alleviate the rough running. The BG MOA #110 treatment worked like a champ and the truck began to run better almost immediately. The BG MOA #110 works to reduce oil oxidation, which makes the oil more like sludge. It helps lengthen engine life.

Making Your Pickup Truck Last a Long Time: Change the Oil Regularly with a Local Mechanic and Use an Oil Treatment

My pickup truck is a 2004 F-150 Supercrew model. The odometer currently reads over 235,000 miles. This truck is practically a member of the family now. I get the oil changed regularly and I use an oil treatment each time I have the oil changed. The oil additive helps the truck run smoother. My daughter calls it the magic juice and I think it is. I stay away from the dealership and use a mechanic that specializes in keeping old vehicles running,

Product Review: The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor is a Great, Cheap Juicer

I enjoy my Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer. It is a great juicer, and quite cheap. If you're looking for an inexpensive juicer in order to get into juicing, the HB Big Mouth Juicer is a cheap way to introduce yourself to this healthful activity. The juicer is a bit noisy, but very durable. The juicer can be purchased for less than $50, so it's a bargain. The Big Mouth is a great, cheap juicer for someone new to juicing.

If you want to begin juicing and don't want to spend much money, check out the centrifugal juicers available. The centrifugal juicers are cheaper than masticating juicers. In this article, I discuss three different kinds of juicers I've used: the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer, the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor and the Breville Juice Fountain. I prefer both the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor and the Breville Juice Fountain. Both are durable.

Nebraska Movie Review Interrupted: I Just Couldn't Finish It on a Friday Night

Nebraska was a tough film for me to wade through on a Friday night. I generally don't enjoy black and white flicks. I am also usually not a fan of artsy films which are designed to be thought provoking. I will admit to those limitations. Will Forte and Bruce Dern are the major characters. An old man thinks he has won a sweepstakes and his son takes him on a journey to claim his winnings, even though it's obvious he hasn't won anything. They confront the past.
