I am a semi-successful freelance writer who has landed some great writing gigs here and there. I've got a few years of experience under my belt and a degree in English from the University of Florida. However, in this economy my bread and butter has been upfront pay from content mills. I am tired of getting a flat fee for $15 an article. Now I am a very fast, efficient writer and can average 2 such articles per hour, which adds up to $30/hour – and those wages are nothing to scoff at! Yet, I KNOW those articles are making someone much much more money than $15 over time. So I have decided that I am done writing for low upfront payments with SEO content.
Back in the day I wrote for eHow’s Writer’s Compensation Program, and by God I wish I had written more articles for this site before the program ended. From just a few small handful of articles I make about $100/month now, every month! However, eHow was a new concept back then and did not reveal their formula for paying contributors revenue shares. So understandably I was wary about investing lots of my time into this program and hindsight is 20/20!
I am learning rapidly as I go from affiliate link placement to advanced backlinking strategies. I still have a lot to learn and much of this is experimental, but I know writing for revenue share works and patience is part of the process. If you'd like to get paid to write too, join InfoBarrel!
