I've been writing consistently (okaaay, struggling) online since 2010. My formal education includes: music (piano), nursing, orthotics/prosthetics (artificial limbs), and ophthalmic (eye care) assisting.

I love to tackle human and animal rights issues and anything related to the betterment of society and our planet. Sometimes, I design fun "slice of life" designs on Zazzle for my Sousababy store to help raise funds for various causes.

Oh and I love to dabble in the humour niche. I'm an amateur cartoonist and wannabe comedian. You can view my fun skits at my Rose Webster YouTube channel.

HubPages Hubber Scores: Facts and Myths

If you are wondering what being "unfeatured for lack of engagement" really means on HubPages, I can bust some myths for you. Does the Hubber score (or Hub score) make you wonder too? Since I have never joined HubPages, I can spare you some work. I haven't tweaked any of my 293 articles on there since 2013 (those are posted without my permission). I haven't promoted any link with the Squidoo or HubPages domain in the URL. In this short article, I share my theory of what might be behind this mysterious number.

Why Paid Trolls Are Worse Than Spammers Online

It seems that every online business has dealt with spam. It's easy to recognize and ignore now. But there's a new breed of troublemaker online that is far more toxic - trolls and paid shills. No, they don't resort to profanity, but they create the illusion that an article or author is somehow less credible. They do a good job of distracting readers from the facts and shifting their focus elsewhere. In the least, they usually succeed in keeping people quiet. I think it's time we enforced some laws.

Online Writers: You'll Love Google's New Scraper Report

Just when I felt like giving up chasing plagiarists, Google comes up with an easier way to report them. I couldn't wait to try out Google's Scraper Report and I bet you'll love it too. Plus, it gives me an emotional boost to know in mere seconds I can report a page - even if it's written in another language. The key way I find scrapers is to look for words that don't translate easily. Often, I find my pen name or the name of this site, InfoBarrel, gives them away.

HubPages and Squidoo: 8 Lies You've Been Told

The red flags have gone up for HubPages writers: former Squidoo lenses are being unfeatured for lack of engagement (prior to the four month grace period), writers can no longer disclose their earnings without the prior written consent of HubPages, and authors are being encouraged to leave their "Hubs" [articles] up for at least a year. I outline eight lies you've been led to believe and provide you with the truth. Yes, there is a way to get compensated for your losses.

Want to Leave HubPages? How to Get All of Your Earnings

If I had to pick one article that I wanted every writer online to read, this is the one. We need to be able to retain our rights online, on any platform. Content site owners need to be held accountable to their terms of service/use and adhere to both federal and state laws. HubPages and Squidoo cannot be allowed to proceed with their "deal" that has broken these rules and the law. Now is the time to take back what is legally ours - our content, identity, profile, and all of our earnings.

Dear Google, HubPages Is Posting My Content and I Need to File 293 DMCA Notices

Seth Godin illegally sold content that did not belong to him for an undisclosed sum to Paul Edmondson, CEO of HubPages. Stolen property [content] does not become legal to profit from - at any time. I never joined HubPages, yet 293 of my former Squidoo lenses (articles) are still posted on HubPages (with their ads) making money for someone other than me. I have filed an IC3 report. I wrote this to explain the situation to the Google Removals team and to the public. I hope other online writers will feel empowered to do the same.

Google Plus: The Party You Need to Join

Whether you are work online or not, almost everyone spends time searching Google. For many, it's become a primary news source and an interactive social environment where everyone has a voice. It's for this reason, I'd like to see more writers using their Google Plus accounts. You'll find you have more control over what you are exposed to online and you have the power to make the internet a better (and safer) place for everybody.

Is HubPages Hanging Squids Out to Dry?

Finally, it looks like small to medium-sized websites and individuals working on their own sites and blogs will reap the benefits of the latest Panda, Penguin, and Pirate updates. If you have been producing unique, high quality content for the online masses, you will see more traffic. Google will be downgrading and/or penalizing spammy sites, link violators, "fake votes" and copyright violators. HubPages and Squidoo domains, I'm sure, will be suffering.

Early Bird Geek Deals

We all need to stay connected - especially in bad weather. If you've ever lost power in your smartphone at a crucial time, you end up with "charge anxiety" (like me). So, I asked my IT guy to help me choose the top quality products to keep mobile devices fully charged. And my IT guy didn't disappoint. Not only are these high quality products, they are offered at early bird (Black Friday) discounted prices.

G-F Beefy Pepperpot Stew (Slow Cooker Method)

As soon as Thanksgiving was over, my IT guy asked me to make my world-famous pepperpot stew. What I love about this dish is how tender the stewing beef is after being in the slow cooker all day. It's a hearty meal to come home to after a long day shopping, sightseeing, or hitting the slopes. With sweet potatoes, peppers, and the right combination of spices (including cinnamon), I've found this a simple way to feed 8 to 10 people or to halve for a family.

Regret Your HubPages-Squidoo Transfer or Content Deletion? Help to Get Your Earnings Back

Squidoo and HubPages had identical statements in their terms of service: they do not own the content. Yet, neither of them sought the permission of authors prior to selling user information, identities, or content. Many people felt pressured to transfer their work to HubPages. Others deleted their account/content and unwittingly forfeited their share of ad pool revenue or other "late payments." You may get some or all of your money back by filing an IC3 complaint.

Having a Sleepover? Guests Staying Overnight?

With the holiday season almost upon us, many travellers will find themselves stranded at airports or staying with friends and family during inclement weather. Sometimes, a spare bed or two can mean the world to adults travelling with kids. Or, a guest has had one too many and shouldn't drive home. Either way, I've finally found two decent products that I rely on (in these cases) and that I also use for myself and for my daughter when we travel.

Espresso Chocolate or Toffee Date Squares (with G-F and Nut-Free Options)

I never thought much about date squares until my IT guy told me he loves them. So, I decided to make him a batch of gluten-free, nut-free date squares. And for my extended family, I made gluten-free coffee toffee date squares. The best part is, the filling is so good in these, you can even make them without any chocolate or toffee chips. No, these aren't your grandma's date squares, these will knock your socks off.

Gorgeous Gluten-Free Pecan Pie

What's Thanksgiving without both pumpkin and pecan pie? Right. The turkey-loving winemakers in my life have inspired me (a-hem, um, bribed me) to come up with a gluten-free pecan pie that contained no corn syrup. So I used maple syrup. Actually, I was surprised that pecan pie wasn't traditionally made with maple syrup. Fortunately, some fabulous Grade A maple syrups are becoming available on the market for my American friends. If you love pecan pie, I think you'll find my recipe a keeper.

A Dealmaker's Gluten-Free Pumpkin Pie

My Thanksgiving menu this October (and November, when my American friends visit) is getting ever more popular. I struck a deal with the homemade winemakers - and yes, it involved brandy in a gluten-free pumpkin pie. No matter what your tastes are, I've left you plenty of wiggle room to personalize your own pumpkin pie this season. If there's one pumpkin pie I'm proud of, it's this bad boy.

HubPages and Squidoo: The Disaster is Happening

Sooner than I predicted, HubPages is tanking fast. Why? Because Google knows about the unacceptable and stolen Squidoo content (and profiles). So does the IC3. Seth Godin and Paul Edmondson thought no one would notice. How arrogant. However, a few women writers brilliantly dissected this "deal" and now the truth is being exposed. If I were on HubPages, I'd be leaving sooner than later.

Hawaiian Turkey Stew (Slow Cooker Method)

With Thanksgiving and the winter holiday season almost upon us, I thought a slow cooker turkey stew would make the perfect gift for someone unable to attend family get-togethers. Perhaps a new mom or someone who is bedridden would love to have this simple dish brought to them to enjoy with you. I've tweaked this recipe to make it gluten-free for those who require it but regular gluten-containing ingredients will work just as well.

G-F Peanut-Free Chocolaty WowButter Rice Krispies Idea for Halloween

Halloween isn't the same for kids with food allergies. Each year, I've made three different Halloween treats for specific dietary needs. I made one that was vegan, one that was gluten-free, and one that was peanut-free. Finally, I found a way to make just one no bake treat that everyone can enjoy. So throw the kids a Halloween party with this simple recipe and relax with the goblins.

I Am Sousababy and I Never Joined HubPages

My daughter wanted to know why HubPages is posting my photo and 293 articles of mine when I publicly protested the transfer of my work from Squidoo. She saw my August 31st video when I tried to delete my account or edit out all of my work when it was on Squidoo. Today, she saw the article that her and I worked on together (posted on HubPages) and she knows someone else is making money from her (our) hard work. The truth needs to be told so that other writers (and their kids) know what happened on Squidoo and what is about to happen on HubPages.

Hassle-Free Stuffed Turkey Breast with G-F Options

Just when I thought a vegetarian Thanksgiving was possible, I had to let some extended family know of my intent. This was a bad mistake. Never underestimate the power of any carnivore you encounter. Fortunately a compromise was reached. With the help of Jean Pare, I was able to tweak her Stuffed Turkey Breast recipe to make it gluten-free with a touch of Canadian maple syrup. If you are in the same boat, perhaps my recipe can help you too.
