I've been writing consistently (okaaay, struggling) online since 2010. My formal education includes: music (piano), nursing, orthotics/prosthetics (artificial limbs), and ophthalmic (eye care) assisting.

I love to tackle human and animal rights issues and anything related to the betterment of society and our planet. Sometimes, I design fun "slice of life" designs on Zazzle for my Sousababy store to help raise funds for various causes.

Oh and I love to dabble in the humour niche. I'm an amateur cartoonist and wannabe comedian. You can view my fun skits at my Rose Webster YouTube channel.

For Mardi Gras Bake Two Pie-Size G-F Pancakes

Credit: Amazon.com Mardi Gras, coined America's greatest party, seems to be most lavishly celebrated in New Orleans.[1] Historically, I found two origins of this festival (also known as Carnival). The word Mardi Gras means "Fat Tuesday" in French.[2] It signifies the last day one can eat rich, fatty foods prior to...

St. Patrick's Day Is 48 Hours In Newfoundland And Labrador

Thought I'd give a little shout out for Toronto's St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday, March 15th, 2015. This year, the parade begins at 12:00 noon from Bloor and St. George (near the old U of T Varsity Stadium) and finishes at Nathan Philips Square on Queen Street.

Curb Your Enthusiasm - A Wake Up Call To Enjoy Life

If you think yes, just start watching episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm[1] and you'll soon change your mind.  After my daughter falls asleep, I try to watch a little "Curb" before hitting the sack. I am thoroughly tickled by - and can relate to - how much Larry just...

Bring Back Ed The Sock Please

Ed the Sock is Canada's longest running late night talk show host. The first time I saw him was on MuchMusic. He was commenting on the "cheesiest music videos" in a year-end special called Fromage 2000. When I overheard his brutally honest quips and his gravelly "CRAP" remarks, I laughed until I cried. What Toronto needs now is Ed the Sock. Most folks know that David Letterman is America's longest running late night talk show host now.[1] But who do you think is Canada's?  Ed the Sock[2] (voiced by Steven Joel Kerzner) held a great run of 16 seasons from 1995 - 2008 hosting Ed's Night Party which was later renamed...

Jeremy Hotz According To RoseWrites

Credit: Leah Gregg on flickr / License: Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic In Canada, we seem to produce some stellar comedic talent - but for some reason, they leave for the U.S. I'm guessing we don't pay them enough to stay here. The first time I saw Jeremy Hotz[1] was...

How To Block Someone On Google Plus And Pinterest

I've been writing online since 2010 (not long, by most standards). And I was shocked and angry when I first discovered my work plagiarized - I suppose I didn't think I'd be targeted somehow (being relatively new and unknown). Over the next couple of years, I began to...

Demetri Martin Soothes The Winter Blues

Credit: theNerdPatrol on flickr / Licensed under Creative Commons 2.0 Generic Flipping through the channels one night, I caught a snippet of Demetri Martin standing beside an easel. In black marker, he drew a simple chair. Casually, he made low-key observations (which were hilarious) about odd uses for the chair...
