Tom Carver has been writing articles online for many years now but is a relatively new writer with InfoBarrel. Tom began working as a professional writer in June 2008 but he had been writing creatively for many years, on a part time basis, prior to 2008. Tom enjoys writing about diverse topics, including everything from engineering to stamp collecting. Tom likes to play Bridge, Scrabble and Chess and Tom is an eclectic reader. Although many of these hobbies are indoor activities Tom does have a large garden to look after so he gets plenty of fresh air too (and a break from writing). Tom is an excellent potato farmer and has experimented with some of the old traditional ways of growing potatoes. A large space facilitates growing potatoes in lazy beds and the options when space is limited are to grow spuds in pots, sacks, barrels or small containers.
Tom has a Masters in Technology Management but his primary degree is in Information Technology but he no longer works in the industry. Tom became fascinated with collecting antiques and has amassed quite a collection of oddments including some of the early Thomas the Tank Engine wooden trains. Tom’s home is somewhat cluttered, to say the least. As a hobbyist Tom owns and has collected coins, medals, cards, antique bottles and vases but Tom passion is still with his very first hobby which was stamp collecting. Tom began collecting Christmas stamps as a child when he was just 8 years old. Tom likes playing board games with his children and encourages them to be imaginative with their construction Kre-o toys and Lego sets. He plays cards too with the older children and is teaching them how to play Bridge and to appreciate chess.
As a psychic Tom specializes in card readings, specifically Tarot cards but he has read palms and tea leaves accurately. His preference is for card reading and explaining the meaning within the Tarot layout (Tarot spread). As a keen philatelist he was pleasantly surprised to find Astrology (a favorite topic of Toms) featured on postage stamps issued by Canada Post in 2011. As well as Canadian stamps Tom collects other country’s stamps too and has many albums of Australian, Irish, Royal Mail and American postage stamps. Tom’s interest in stamps was infectious and his children collect them too but they prefer the themed ones such as Walt Disney postage stamps or The Simpson’s stamps.
