I am a 35-year-old civil servant living on the north coast of California. I am always fascinated by regional differences in the US and those region's cultural quirks, and feel lucky to have arrived in the quirkiest place I have yet known! I am a passionate lover of music, as well as a musician. I love jazz, good food, being outside, travel, and interesting and deep conversation.  As a musician, I am very much interested in seeing (and hearing) people develop a more "organic" approach to music. I would like to see less emphasis on the written page, and more on deep internalization of the sounds we call music. I will share my insights on this, and hopefully many other quirky and interesting subjects!

It's Hot! Shouldn't You Be Having Popsicles?

Popsicles-ah, popsicles- those wonderfully edible mainstays of summer! When the weather is hot, popsicles can be very appealing. They seem to "do the trick" in cooling us down, and can be undeniably tasty and fun to eat. Why not consider making your own at home? Making homemade freezer treats will save you money, provide a fun activity for children (and adults), and of course help to beat the heat. You will be able to flex your creative muscles in a satisfying way, as you can use your imagination to create flavors far more interesting than those offered by store-bought popsicles.

Making Money Offline: Getting Down And Dirty In Other People's (Flower) Beds!

I want to discuss a creative approach to earning extra money. It has nothing to do with the internet ( OK-just a little), and is something that a lot of us could do if we wanted to. I do, and it has been somewhat lucrative for me. What could it be? I'm talking about getting paid to do yard work- being paid to get down and dirty in other people's (flower) beds!

Led Zeppelin III-An Often Overlooked Classic Album

Led Zeppelin is considered universally to be one of the best and most important bands in rock and roll. Between 1968 and 1982, the group released nine studio albums, and became massively popular, garnering much critical acclaim. We are very familiar with many of their massive hits, but I feel some of their best work is often overlooked. I would put "Led Zeppelin III" in this category. It is a highly creative endevour, and is a very satisfying listen. However, it is almost always overshadowed by the successes of their other albums. Let's examine just what makes this album so great...
