Hi, I'm Alex Mckay. I live in Yorkshire, 'gods own county' in the UK. I am a keen cyclist riding with my local Club, Tickhill Velo when I can or off road with my buddies.  My 'day job' is with a large Amaerican technology services company, so tech is one side of my life; the other is a mish mash of gardening, baking with the kids and listening to music revisiting and trying to hang on to my youth! I write about some of the things I enjoy or have experienced, I like  my articles informative  or entertaining, and on good days both at the same time!

Review of 2015 Whyte 629 Hardtail 29er Mountain Bike

I bought a 2015 model Whyte 629 an upgrade from my 2013 Whyte 529. I love the ride and quality of my new bike even more than the old model, there weren't many user reviews about this bike, something I would find useful when choosing a new 29er mountain bike.

Review of 2013 Trek Madone 2.1

I'd dipped my toe into road cycling, and the experience had left me in no doubt that I was not a road cyclist. That was 20 years ago! The buzz from British success at the 2012 Olympics and Le Tour De France has meant there are more road cyclists gliding past whilst I sweat it out with knobbly tyres over Tarmac - I thought I'd give a svelte road bike another go so I got a 2 series Trek Madone!

A Cycling Challenge For Charity - The Great Yorkshire Bike Ride 2012

The Great Yorkshire Bike Ride started in 1983 when 40 cyclists rode from Tockwith to Scarborough, and this charity ride has been held each year since. The current route starts at Wetherby Racecourse and finishes some 70 miles away at Filey on the east coast. This cycling challenge helps raise money for local good causes. My wife and I signed up to do it in June 2012 along with a handful of friends, as a returning cyclist it was a good bike event for me, and for my wife who is new to the sport.

Review of 2013 Whyte 529 Hardtail 29er Mountain Bike

I bought a 2013 model Whyte 529, one of the new 29er Mountain Bikes. When I was looking for a new bike I wasn't aware of the newer 29er mountain bikes, and I hadn't heard of the Whyte brand either; whilst there were magazine articles, there weren't many user reviews about this bike, something I would have found useful when choosing a new 29er mountain bike.
