Grandfather Mountain

White-Water Rafting

Rocky Mount

Tennessee was a part of North Carolina before it became a separate state, the 16th, in 1796. Before statehood the area was best known as the Southwest Territory and a territorial capitol was established at the home of William Cobb a prosperous frontiersman who built his home in the extreme western section of then North Carolina but became known later as the Cobb House and finally entitled, Rocky Mount.

Twelfth Annual Blue Plum Festival

An annual event that has grown now to encapsulate the whole of downtown Johnson City Tennessee. Streets are closed and traffic is diverted around the central hub of this East Tennessee town of more than sixty thousand who have opened up their city to tourist and spectators alike for the first summer festival in the area and surrounding countryside. It's time for Blue Plum.

Covered Bridge Celebration

Each year about this time thousands of people converge on this upper East Tennessee area because of the rich heritage and history associated with the state and location. One of the oldest events that draw the crowds is the Covered Bridge Celebration in the small town of Elizabethton which holds claim to being the first permanent settlement after the original thirteen colonies.
