Uses For Signs

Signs are so versatile in their uses, material, printing, shapes, sizes, etc, that writing about the uses of them may take several days to do.

However, there are a few broad umbrella-like uses for signs that are important to know about – these uses are the most common ones and therefore are most important to know about when deciding whether to use a sign in your particular context.

Safety

Signs are extremely important for use in areas where the safety of anyone is at stake. There are road signs for instance that let drivers, pedestrians and everything in between to let them know when they can walk, when to stop, and what is coming up in the road as far as construction and turns. There are signs used for schools to help motorists and children stay safe, as well as signs on virtually every product that can be bought warning if there is danger or toxic nature to the user.

Business/Sales

Business and anyone or place that sells products or services use signs for advertising all the time. There are signs that can be hung in windows for advertising purposes, signs hung around the town reminding everyone of the sales going on at a particular store, and of course signs inside almost every store for the customers' benefit and the business's profit. It is important to remember that if you are selling anything, be it a product or service, there is likely a sign for that. Even rummage sales use signs to indicate a deal is at hand.

Politics

Politicians know better than anyone the benefit of using signs in their operations. Sometimes a voter who has not studied up on a particular office will vote for the person whose name they have seen more often around the neighborhood. There can be political signs for just the politician's party, for their particular values, or even for the candidate themselves.
