Using Eczema Care Lotion to Ease Your Discomfort
Eczema isn't just a single skin condition, but rather encompasses a variety of different kinds, each with its own particular symptoms. Eczema can be triggered by a variety of factors including genetics, weather conditions, and allergies. This is a recurring problem, so not only do you have to treat it, you should also learn how to prevent it to minimize outbreaks of the problem. A number of health care professionals recommend using eczema care lotion to treat this skin condition. Others prefer more natural treatments such as herbal preparations and oatmeal baths. In reality, a combination of these two approaches is probably a good idea.
The most beneficial eczema treatment will depend on your body's reaction to it. Not every eczema lotion or cream, for instance, works effectively at managing the problem for everyone who uses it. Sometimes these products may cease to be effective even if they helped to clear up the condition in the beginning. And if your problem is severe, and your symptoms including bleeding and seepage of fluids, they might actually make it worse.
For some people, it's not difficult at all to control their condition by simply using an eczema care lotion on a regular basis. Others, however, have to experiment with many different products, and may end up using several forms of treatment before they get any relief. For some people, an over the counter product may be sufficient, while others will require a prescription strength medication.
There are actually a number of different kinds of eczema care lotions. A lot of these can be something as simple as a body lotion in an aqueous formulation. As well, there are medicinal creams that require a prescription from your doctor or dermatologist. However, some of the over the counter creams, lotions and ointments may be just as effective as the stronger formulations.
Moisturizers that can be effective for treating eczema are those that contain emollients. These are formulated so that they hydrate your skin, which helps to prevent outbreaks of eczema due to dryness. Your best bet is to purchase body butter creams which are readily available in most stores, and use them along with an eczema care lotion. Start with a mild preparation and build up in strength if it's not working. Of course, your physician will be able to recommend your best course of action here.
Using a mild steroidal eczema cream or lotion is generally considered best for effectively treating occasional outbreaks of eczema. The steroids in these products are highly useful at targeting the problem and clearing it away. However, there can be some side effects from these creams, so be sure to discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist before you start using any of these products.
