Using Gas Credit Cards to Save Money on Gas
Are you having problems dealing with the price of gas? Or, you might be able to afford gas, but you can't stand throwing away that much money on it. What else can you do? You can try all varieties of gas saving options such as grouping trips and hypermiling, but there are also some other ideas you might be forgetting.
How many credit cards do you use? If you do, you are fortunate to have the privilege to use a credit card that will save you money on gas. Gas credit cards can save you a lot! If you've ever used a rewards card, you know how they can benefit you. Cash back is just one type of the type of rewards you can receive in addition to airline miles for travel and points that can be turned in for other prizes. Usually, these rewards work by awarding you a certain amount of rewards for a certain amount of money you spend like for every dollar.
You can get back a small percentage of what you spend on gas with these gas credit cards. If you get 5% cash back and you spend $300, you would get $15 back. That tiny amount can really add up fast if you keep using your card on gas purchases. If that's not good enough, most gas cards give cash back for other purchases too in a smaller amount.
Don't forget, this is still a credit card. Don't use it irresponsibly. If you charge $200 to your card on gas and get $10 back, that won't mean much if you have a high interest rate and keep a balance that gets larger and larger every month. Ultimately, it will cost you more than not using a card and you will not save a dime on gas. The best thing you can do is pay off your balance in full every month to ensure you get the most cash back.
