Using Solar Lamps Posts and Spotlights As Security Lighting

One of the most tangible benefits that you get from installing outdoor lighting is from its security benefits. Studies have shown that houses that are well-lit are much less likely to be robbed than houses that aren't as well-lit. As a result, installing outdoor lighting might not only prevent you from having a break-in in the middle of the night, but it might also help to lower your homeowner's insurance as well.

If you're thinking about installing security lighting, there are several things that you need to do. The first, and most important is that you need to have all the entrances to your home lit well. This includes your front and back doors, but also your garage and any windows that could possibly be smashed. You don't need to have huge spotlights beaming into each window and door, but they shouldn't be completely dark. The light should also be on when you need them, so make sure that they're either always lit, which isn't usually economical, or they are attached to a motion sensor.

However, installing the lights you want in all the right places can take some time and effort that you don't have. This means you might have to call an electrician or spend lots of time running wires and mounting your lights. Luckily, there is a way around this. By installing solar garden lights you can have all the benefits of security lighting, but without all the hassles that are involved in actually installing the lights.

One type of easy to install light fixture that works great as security lighting are solar powered spotlights. These lights cast a focused beam of light that lights up whatever area you point them at in bright light. They work best when installed near entry ways and connected to a motion detector. That way the lights are there when you need them, but they shut off when they're not needed. This is especially important with solar lights because many times the battery won't be strong enough to light the light at full power for the entire night, especially after a cloudy day.

Another great solar powered fixture that you can use as a security light is a solar lamp post. These lights are not only great for security, but they have many other uses as well. You can place outdoor pole lights at the front of your driveway, on your deck, or simple in front of your door to provide a wide circle of light that you can use for multiple purposes other than security lighting.
