Using Cloth Baby Diapers Does Not Have to be Difficult
Using cloth baby diapers can take some practice. But once you have become comfortable with the procedure, this can be quick and painless for both you and the baby. Learn one folding method that works for you and stick with it.
The square cloth baby diaper is said to be the hardest to use. While it is a bit tricky, this can be mastered with just a bit of trial and error. Simply lay the diaper out, flip one end over so it is shaped like an hourglass, take the baby and lay him on it, bring the corners together and pin.
Make sure you learn to pin these cloth baby diapers properly. The correct method is to place your hand between the diaper and the baby, then pin the corners together. This insures that if you go too far or the wrong way, you poke yourself and not the baby and the baby will thank you for that some day.
The other method is to leave the diaper flat with the narrow end facing you. Lay the baby on the diaper and bring the narrow end up between the baby's legs and pin it then. This is a much easier way when using the padded cloth baby diapers.
If using the pin method is too much to handle, there is another alternative. There are cloth diapers available with Velcro closures that insure a solid fit without a sharp object near your child. These are form fitting and work quite well.
Whichever method you choose, one of these styles of cloth baby diapers will work for you. If you plan to use the pin method, you may want to practice on a doll beforehand. This will help relieve some of the nervousness you may have in using the pins near your baby.
