A cast iron griddle is a great kitchen tool. There are countless of uses for it and it is a staple for most kitchens. If you have ever used one, you probably fell in love with it, assuming you use it for the right food. For example, you can't exactly boil a dozen eggs in a griddle, or at least there are other better tools for it.

Cast iron griddles are known for being long lasting. They can last a lifetime and still work great. In fact, sometimes the older the better because they are full of flavors. These pans can crack which makes them un-useable, but if you treat it right, it shouldn't crack.

One great way to use a griddle is for breakfast. You can make all sorts of breakfast foods with a griddle such as pancakes, eggs, French toast, sausage, bacon, has browns, fried potatoes, etc. You can make a whole delicious breakfast in one pan!

If you get a cast iron griddle for the first time, pre-treat it so that it is ready for use. This is called seasoning. Basically, what you do is coat the pan with lard or bacon grease and bake in a 250 degree to 300 degree oven. After 15 minutes, remove it from the oven and pour out the excess grease, then return it to the oven and bake for 2 hours.

Seasoning a pan makes it nonstick without having a toxic nonstick coating. You can do it more than once to make it more nonstick, and you can redo the seasoning when necessary. Don't use soap or a sponge when cleaning, just rinse with water while it's still hot and scrape off any stuck on food when needed.
