Valentine Napoleons Dessert Recipe
These pastries are quick to fix, thanks to the convenient puff pastry. Just fill the heart shapes with a pudding and cream mixture and some fresh strawberries.
1-package (17-1/4 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
1-cup cold milk
1-package (3.4-ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
1-cup heavy whipping cream
1/4-cup confectioners' sugar
1-1/4 cup sliced fresh strawberries
Additional confectioners' sugar
Step 1...On a lightly floured surface, roll out each pastry sheet to 1/8-inch thickness. Using a 3-1/2 heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out 12 hearts. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 8 to 11 minutes in a 400 degree oven. Or just until golden brown, don't over bake. Remove to a wire rack to cool.
Step 2...In a bowl whisk milk and pudding mix for 2-minutes. Now in another bowl, use an electric mixer and beat the cream just until it starts to thicken. Continue to beat, adding in the confectioners' sugar and beat until soft peaks form. Gently fold into the pudding mixture.
Step 3...When the puff pastry hearts are cool split in half. Place the bottom half on serving plates. Spoon 1/4 cup filling over each one, top with the strawberry slices and the pastry heart tops. Sprinkle with some confectioners' sugar. Serve right away.
Makes 12 servings.
Tip; Can all be made ahead and then just put together before servings.
