Romantic Quotes and Music

for a special dinner with the one you love!

Enjoying a romantic dinner for two can be one of the most rewarding ways to spend an evening, rekindling your relationship.  Whether you are celebrating Valentine's Day, an anniversary or nothing at all, this should be an evening when you can spend time alone together. It doesn't matter whether you have only been dating a few months, or you have been married forty years, you'll want to make this night special. Many brides have been proposed to on Valentines Day. Many weddings are scheduled for Valentines Day, making it the couple's anniversary, as well. Even if you do not have a special event to commemorate, it is wonderful to simply enjoy a romantic evening with each other. What are some ways to make this evening special?

Romantic Dinner Plans at a Restaurant

Perhaps the simplest way to celebrate Valentines Day or another special occasion is to make dinner reservations at a charming, quiet restaurant. You do not want to go to your favorite sports bar. Instead, you want to find a restaurant where the two of you will dress up a little, and where you can spend a quiet couple of hours in conversation. It can be a charming little neighborhood Italian cafe, an upscale steakhouse, or an expensive French restaurant. Whatever you choose, it should be a place where you do not normally eat, and where there will not be any televisions hanging from the wall to distract you!

You will also want to make sure that the restaurant you choose is not too noisy.  You want to be able to chat comfortably without feeling you are shouting over a crowd or loud music.

If you have trouble coming up with an neighborhood restaurant that appeals to you, check out the hotels in the area. Many hotels have an elegant restaurant, as well as a casual café. In fact, one of the advantages of a hotel is that some of them may also have music and dancing available. Another advantage of a hotel is that you can surprise your loved one with a romantic overnight stay, if it works into your budget and is appropriate for this stage of your relationship.

Romantic Dinner at Home

If going to a restaurant for Valentines Day or a special occasion seems too expensive for your budget, you may want to create a romantic, special dinner at home, instead. What foods do you both enjoy, but you rarely prepare because they are a little more trouble or more expensive than your day-to-day budget? You may decide to build a meal around lobster tails, crab legs, prawns, salmon or steak. Whichever entrée you choose, make sure it is not something that you normally have every weekend. Start your meal with a tossed green salad, or a bowl of canned seafood bisque. Add a side dish of au gratin potatoes, and your favorite vegetable.

You dessert should also be something out of the ordinary. You could make chocolate cupcakes, topped with pink icing. Put a small chocolate heart on each one. You can also buy frozen soufflés at the grocery store that are easy to heat and serve.

Once you have decided on a Valentines Day menu, you can then take a few steps to be sure that your meal is particularly romantic. Pull out the cloth napkins and the lacy tablecloth. Put candles on the table. Have romantic music playing in the background. If you like to drink, open a bottle of wine. Set a vase on the table with a little nosegay of flowers. If you have children, you can feed the kids early and put them to bed, or you can have a babysitter take them to a movie so that the two of you have some quiet time alone.

If you are having dinner at home, set the table and prepare as much of the food as possible in the morning, so you have time to take a bath and relax in the afternoon. No matter how nice your dinner is, if you are tired and stressed when you serve it, you won't enjoy it!

Romantic Quotes about Love

One way to make your evening special is to write a note to your loved one about how much you value their love ... and how much you love them. If you have no idea what to say, here are some famous quotes about love that may help you get started:

"Life without love is like a tree without blossoms or fruit." (Kahlil Gilbran)

"If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things you lack. If you don't have it, no matter what else there is, it's not enough." (Ann Landers)

"If I know what love is, it is because of you." (Herman Hesse)

"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies." (Aristotle)

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserve." From the Book of Corinthians in the Bible.

Special Occasion Photos

If you have a special romantic evening planned with the person you love, don't forget to take pictures! Even if you celebrate your love at home in your own dining room, take photos of the dining table, the meal you serve, and the two of you together. If you go out to dinner, take pictures of the restaurant, the view, and ask your waiter to take a photo of you enjoying your dinner. You will want to be sure to have these pictures, whether you put them on Facebook, or, someday, in your wedding album.

Romantic Love Songs

Finally, you may want some special songs about love to provide the background music, especially if you are celebrating Valentines Day at home. If the two of you have a "special song," you will want to be sure to include it on your play list. In addition, here is a list of ten romantic love songs you may want to include:

Can You Feel the Love Tonight (Elton John)

Can't Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley)

Close to You (The Carpenters)

Forever (Kenny Loggins)

Because You Loved Me (Celine Dion)

In My Life (The Beatles)

Unforgettable (Nat King Cole)

How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You (James Taylor)

You've Got a Friend in Me (Randy Newman "Toy Story")

"At Last" (Etta James)

Very cool article! I love your suggestions...now, if you can just produce "Mr. Right," in time for Valentines Day! Also, check out "From This Moment On," by Shania Twain; you'll love the lyrics. I Google + and posted to Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you for your comments. You are right about the Shania Twain song ... that is a nice addition to the list. I may edit this article after I see if anyone else has some additional songs to suggest!

Very good tips on a Valentine dinner for two. Love the list of songs. I agree with jeni, from this moment on is a great song. What about Dolly's "I will always love you". Whitney sang it too.

You article is great. I has spurred thoughts of great love songs and hopefully romantic dinner plans for Valentines. I have a song idea too! How about Book of Love by Peter Gabriel. It's a beautiful one. Love your idea of taking pictures of your dinner event also.

Fun article! You're a romantic at heart! I once cooked a several course Valentine's day meal with each course in the shape of a heart or containing the word "heart" like, heart shaped beet slices (heartbeets!) and salad with artichoke hearts. Another great source for romantic music is Tony Benet. He has many songs suitable for this kind of occasion.

Hi: I enjoyed your article too. I'm lucky (I guess) my wife is always making us romantic dinners with all ambiance. When I was young, however, I was really a jerk...at least in this way. My wife loved classical music and I would only listen to country. In the end she
just put her music away. I still feel so bad for being so stupid. Nevertheless, we still have a romantic dinner every now and then and that's after over 35 years. Two big thumbs and
a rating for U.

It is wonderful that you appreciate your wife now. I hope you both have a marvelous Valentine's Day this year.
