Valentines Day Movies for Children

By Edited Mar 30, 2016 0 0

There are a lot of great Valentines Day movies for children. Many of these movies are classics that we grow up with. It's fun to introduce our kids to the same stories that we loved when we were little. Other Valentine's Day movies for children are more recent and feature some of your kids favorite characters that they watch on television. While it is possible to catch most of these holiday specials on TV, they are all available on DVD so your child can watch them whenever they want.

If you are looking for the best movie about Valentine's Day, you want Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown. This is actually comprised of three specials. The first one, which shares its name with the DVD, is from 1975. Another onene, from 1967, is called You're in Love, Charlie Brown. The other is from 1977 and is called It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown. While these are older, they have been remastered so they look and sound good. In addition to the Valentine's Day stories there is a featurette documentary about unrequited love in Peanuts.

All three stories on this DVD are age appropriate for the whole family. Since Charlie Brown is the lovable loser, everyone can relate to him and it is enjoyable to watch whether or not you have a valentine to share the day with. The featurette documentary will be more of interest to Peanuts fans than young children, the stories themselves are timeless.

Another good pick is Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You. This is great for younger children and it does a wonderful job of explaining the holiday to them in a way that they can understand. Of course, older children and adults who grew up with Winnie the Pooh can also enjoy watching this classic. This DVD comes with some extra episodes. The main story is called A Valentine for You, which first aired in 1999. There is also a short episode called My Hero, along with stories called Un-Valentine's Day and Three Piglets. All of the stories are worth watching, but most people's favorite is the special A Valentine for You.

If you are looking for more recent characters to help your child celebrate St Valentine's Day, consider Nick Jr. Favorites: We Love Our Friends. It has stories from several Nick Jr television shows. These include the stories Blue's Clues: Love Day, Dora the Explorer: Best Friends, Ni Hao, Kai-lan: Playtimes at Tolee's, and Yo Gabba Gabba!: Love.

Another good choice when looking at Valentines Day movies for children is Alvin & the Chipmunks: A Chipmunk Valentine. As someone who grew up in the 80s, I have a lot of fond memories of these singing chipmunks. They are still popular today and their Valentine's Day special is a lot of fun. This contains a few other episodes so it can be played year round and not just in February.

Valentine's Day can be a fun holiday for children. It's a great day to celebrate friendships and caring. Watching a movie with your child on this day can help them appreciate the meaning and it can create a lasting memory for you.
