Vegetables and Fruits are Great for the Skin

By Edited Jan 27, 2016 2 2

One of the biggest fads that seems to be going around these days and for the last ten years or so is the fact that many people have seemed to want to become vegetarians to improve their health and their overall quality of life. Kicking the old habit of eating red meats and other fattening foods is something that has really caught on with this recent generation of health conscience people and will probably grow even larger as the years go by. Besides being very good for the digestive system and many other essential functions of the human body, being a vegetarian can also work wonders for someone's skin if they eat vegetables and fruits.

Eating fruit is a subtle and powerful skin booster

Vegetables like cold squash and cucumbers can be used topically or be eaten to greatly improve the clarity and smoothness of the skin. They can also be used as lotions of sorts to provide safety from negative sun rays and potential skin breakouts that can occur from oils and filth building up on the skin's surface.

Not many people have been made aware of these extra benefits of becoming a vegetarian or even just eating these types of fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds on a regular basis. Some people who do not care for giving up on their occasional steak or hamburger still get the benefit of clear skin and a healthy system by eating these vegetables periodically and even mixing them into a diet that includes red meats. What meat cannot provide however are the great omega-3 oils, such as olive oil. Increase this too and your skin will thank you. That is a way to get the best of both worlds in a sense because you get to enjoy your meat while remaining in good physical condition at the same time.

Being able to stay dedicated to being a vegetarian is not a very easy thing to do, but is always made that much more easy by the fact that the skin is looking that much better since the trend started. Doing a little bit of research about the foods that you eat is very important to any lifestyle change, so make sure that you know what you are getting yourself into before you go off and quit something that you enjoy so much. Fruits and vegetables will have many positive effects on your long term health and well being as well as the lasting condition of your skin.
