Smiles show a person’s confidence and mood. Having a beautiful smile will result in much higher confidence and increase levels of happiness. Smiling can completely change your attitude and raise your feelings of self-confidence. This is because of a connection between the brain and the body. Smiling triggers activity in the part of the brain where happiness is processed. This increases happiness and confidence in those who feel free to smile. However, people who are ashamed of what their teeth look like can suffer from low confidence. They don’t give full smiles and are careful to watch how they convey emotion.

These people may spend too much time hoping no one sees their teeth and miss out on the fun that confidence can provide. People perceive those who don’t smile as less confident, and will treat them as such. People can spend years hiding their smile, thereby missing out on happiness and confidence, even though the problem can be easily fixed with porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers are an extremely popular cosmetic procedure. A porcelain veneer is a thin layer of a porcelain material that’s considered to be as hard as natural teeth. This material is attached to the surface of a tooth and serves to improve the look of the tooth. Porcelain veneers also prevent teeth from any further damage. Porcelain veneers can have a purely aesthetic quality, or they can fix teeth that were damaged from tooth grinding or harsh medical treatments. This type of veneer will last for many years and will not stain easily.

Porcelain veneers look like natural teeth because the material they’re created out of is translucent. This is similar to the property of the enamel that’s naturally on teeth. When it lands on your teeth, light travels through the enamel and reflects off of the inner materials of your teeth. This is what gives teeth their shine. Porcelain veneers are made to reproduce this act and therefore look extremely natural. They’re also stained to a color that either matches that of the natural teeth, or is whitened when the person plans on whitening their teeth.

Any dentist can attach porcelain veneers, but a cosmetic dentist is specially trained in how to fit, stain, and install the porcelain veneers in a painless and extremely attractive way. Cosmetic dentistry requires training outside of dental school that regular dentists don’t receive. While regular dentists believe the functionality of teeth is their most important aspect, cosmetic dentists believe functionality and aesthetic qualities are equally important in making patients happy, healthy, and confident.

Cosmetic dentists are trained to have a keen eye that serves them in enhancing your dental appearance in a way other dentists will not be able to envision as easily. Porcelain veneers have many aspects to them that must work together to create a beautiful smile. They must be the correct thickness, a natural color, and be fitted correctly into the mouth. If you don't go to a cosmetic dentist for your implants, the porcelain veneers may not look correct and you’ll be left with a smile that still doesn't make you confident, or may be worse than before. This completely undermines the process and can waste thousands of dollars.
