Vinegar to clean hardwood floors has been a known frugal trick for a long time now. It's really easy and it works wonders! In fact, it works just as well as the more expensive cleaning products you can buy from a store... This way, you no longer have to buy expensive products or even hire someone to come in and do the job for you!You need to regularly maintain your floors so they continue to look new! You need to take good care of them so they can last a long time. Surprisingly enough vinegar to clean hardwood floors is the perfect solution. Not only does it disinfect, it's also non-toxic. Don't worry about the scent either because that will disappear pretty fast.
Your first step in using vinegar to clean hardwood floors is to clear your room of basically everything and anything. You want to be able to reach the entire surface of your floors.
Next, use a vaccuum or a broom to get rid of dust and other debris found. This shouldn't take too long so don't over-do it.
Thirdly, to create the vinegar water solution you need to clean up, mix a gallon of hot water with a full cup of vinegar(plain white vinegar – nothing special). You want to avoid leaving the container on the hardwood floors because this may leave a stain in the shape of a ring.
Dunk your mop into the mix and get rid of some of the water. In other words, your mop should not be dripping water anymore, it should only be slightly moist.
This step is the easiest, all you have to do is use the vinegar solution to clean your hardwood floors. In other words, mop the entire surface of the floor and once the mix gets too dirty, change it.
Finally, let the room dry up and then put back all the chairs and carpets, etc...
Bonus: You do not have to mop your floors every day. Using a broom and/or vaccuum should be done at least once a week of course but mopping can be done more infrequently.
Extra tip: You can use a towel to dry the floor after mopping to give it a shiny effect.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT GET YOUR FLOORS TOO WET WHILE USING VINEGAR TO CLEAN HARDWOOD FLOORS. THIS IS WHY I SAID TO MAKE SURE YOUR MOP IS NOT DRIPPING AND SOAKING WET!
