Most people flock to the beaches or major attractions for their vacations, but those who love the great outdoors often travel to Mountain Home, Arkansas to relax and spend their time off.

Mountain Home is a city with a population of slightly more than 11,000 people tucked away in the Ozark mountains near the Missouri state line. It is surrounded by several lakes, rivers and forests that make it the perfect destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, hunting and more.

This small city located in north central Arkansas offers some majestic views, especially when viewed from above. Visitors and residents have the opportunity to take in the picturesque scenery from Top O, a high tower built specifically for viewing the Ozarks. There is also a traditional aerial tour for visitors to take in the view as well.

When not enjoying everything the great outdoors has to offer, Mountain Home offers a variety of other activities and attractions. Numerous shopping opportunities are offered through shops and boutiques in its historical downtown square district. Visitors also have the chance to tour a boat factory or one of the lake dams to learn how it works. Plus this Arkansas town coordinates events and activities throughout the year to entertain residents and guests.

While Mountain Home offers a variety of activities and attractions to entertain guests, the most pleasant part of any vacation to the area is the people. The city prides itself on being friendly and helping others, which is why it won the Arkansas volunteer community of the year award.

Its friendly, laid-back attitude is also one of the reasons it has been ranked by Rand McNally and AARP as one of the top places in the United States to retire. Of course helping it to garner this rating is a well-balanced economy and a low cost of living.

If you want a unique place to spend your next vacation or you are looking for a quiet, pleasant place to reside, consider Mountain Home, Arkansas.
