80% of the Population is Low in Vitamin D

One Way to Tell If you are Low in Vitamin D is if you are a Head Sweater.

There has been alot of talk recently that Americans are low in Vitamin D.  The figures are that 80% of the population is low in Vitamin D.  If you eat fast food and think you are getting Omega 3 and Vitamin D from that fish sandwich; well you can check it out that you are only getting about 10% of what normal fish from the wild provide.  Taking Omega 3 or Fish Oil pills can make your blood get too thin.  Best to eat your way to proper nutrition.

TOP FOOD CONTAINING VITAMIN D

Shitake and Button Mushrooms

Maybe these are high in Vitamin D because they suck up some much sunshine to grow.

Cod Liver Oil

They now have lemon flavored Cod Liver Oil.  1 Tablespoon (hold your nose) has 1,360 IUS of Sunshine Health.

Mackarel

3 ounces of Mackarel will provide 97% of daily requirements.  This fish provides 388 IUS in a 3 ounce serving.

Sockeye Salmon

Wild salmon is right up there with Mackarel. A 3 ounce serving of Salmon will provide you with over 470 IUS.  More than your 100% requirement.   Another suggestion is canned salmon. Easy to eat, convienent, and the price is right.

Sardines

Sardines are convienet to carry with you on the go.  One can will contain at leat 70% of daily requirement of Vitamin D.  The fish are so small you will not have to worry too much about mercury like Tuna.

Eggs

One egg will provide you with 10% of Vitamin D requirement.  One ounce of Swiss Cheese is 40 IUS and 10% of Vitamin D, too.

Vitamin D is found in very few foods, and added to fortify others.  I have been with someone who stayed in the sun for 2- 3 weeks in Hawaii and still came back testing low in Vitamin D.  Vitamin D is very important in lubrication of bones, teeth and hair.  Inflammation reduction by having proper Vitamin D in your system will help with chronic diseases, cancer, obesity and diabetes.
