Walk in Shower Designs made Simple

By | 2 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

So you are thinking about remodeling your existing shower and/or adding a walk in shower to your home. The good news is that there are several walk in shower designs to choose from but you will want to do your homework in choosing what you want. After all, although a walk in shower may not be permanent, it will be somewhat pricey and you will most likely have to live with whatever design you choose for quite some time after construction is finished. In other words, planning should be the most important thing to think about when choosing a shower design.

Here are some factors you should ask yourself before shower construction begins:

  1. Where do you intend to place the shower? This is not only an aesthetic decision to make but also a functional decision. You are going to want to give yourself and your guests enough room to move around the bathroom. Alternatively, you are also going to want it to add to your bathroom, aesthetically speaking, and not subtract from the overall look and feel of your bathroom.
  2. How big do you want your walk in shower to be? Once again, this is a question you should ask yourself. A big walk in shower may sound like a good idea but you don't want it to dwarf everything else in your bathroom. The general rule is the bigger the bathroom, the bigger the shower can be.
  3. Can you find an angle for your walk in shower? You need to have a plan so that the water doesn't get all over the bathroom. Most walk in showers have a slight slope around the edges to allow water to drain easily without making a big mess.
  4. Have you thought about what you want in terms of features for your shower? In a remodeling setting, the sky is the limit...do you want a traditional shower head where the water comes down from a single spot or do you want a shower in which water shoots from all directions? What about lighting in the walk in shower? Some showers come with a built in "sauna" like feature with a place for you to sit and relax. Other showers are just the traditional ones that get the job done but don't do much else. Some people like to dedicate an entire room for the walk in shower enclosure and make the shower big enough for 2
Before you get started with your shower construction, you will most likely want to plan it out thoroughly so that that perfect image you have in your head can be realized once the remodel is finished.
