Washer Dryer Combo Advantages
Many people have looked at or heard about the washer dryer combo machine but have wondered about what advantages it beholds. Most people are used to the traditional setup of a separate washer or dryer sat side by side, in the kitchen or laundry, or stacked on top of each other. Apart from having to move garments from one machine to another, these machines are very efficient but the problem is that they take up a lot of room. With a washer and dryer combo the two appliances are actually incorporated into a single machine and so take up a lot less room than the two separate machines.
They are becoming increasingly popular as properties diminish in size and due to the credit crunch many people are downsizing and finding they have less room. Many more people are also living in apartments where there is often no separate laundry and kitchen space is at a premium. These types of appliances have been popular in Europe and the Far East for years where many more people live in smaller houses and apartments.
When looking at the washer dryer combo you will notice that they come as either vented or non vented. With a vented machine the hot, damp air is removed from the clothes and passed through an exhaust pipe, through an external wall or window and into the open air. With a non vented or vent less model the damp air is passed through a condenser which removes the moisture which then collects in a tray. Both types are very efficient at what they do, but the non vented type needs a little more maintenance as the collection tray needs to be emptied regularly. With both appliances the drying part of the cycle takes longer than with a conventional dryer. One of the big advantages is that the clothes do not need to be removed from the washer and transferred to the dryer. Indeed, soiled clothes can be placed in the machine in the morning and you can come home from work to dry clean clothes.
Like a conventional set up, garments are often loaded in at the top and the hinged door clothes. The cycle can be set to stop after the wash or programmed to go straight through to the drying cycle. If you are doing this it is important to make sure that the garments are fine to tumble dry. Some clothes like woolens will shrink if placed through a dryer so be careful. It is often better to wash the clothes, then remove any fragile items and then set it on the drying mode.
Most washer combo's cost anywhere from $200 to $1400 depending on the manufacturer, options and size. Some are actually enabled to connect to the internet so it is possible to program them and update the software online. There are many different makes but the Lg washer dryer combo is a popular choice and they come as standard size machines or portable washers. Many commercial Launderettes favor the use of a combination appliance as they take up much less room therefore allowing more machines to be used at once. The disadvantage is that the drying cycle may last from one to four hours which is longer than a dedicated dryer.
If you are moving to a smaller place or space is already a premium and you are looking at your options for washing and drying your clothes then it is certainly worthwhile looking at a washer dryer combo. Taking a look at the manufacturers websites online or doing a search is a good way to start.
