Mexico is a very common vacation destination for great reasons. One of the biggest draws that Mexico has is its amazing views of the water. This water provides for a great deal of activities to do while you are on vacation, which makes it a perfect place to travel with your family.

If you are looking to book a great Mexican vacation in the near future, a great place to catch great water views and activities is Cabo San Lucas. I guarantee that water and water activities will not be short supply if you decide to visit Cabo.

Cabo San Lucas is a city that is located on the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula in the municipality of Los Cabos. It is known for its sandy beaches, amazing scuba diving locations, its abundant marine life, among other things.  It boasts a large marina and bay area where the Sea of Cortex meets the Pacific Ocean. It also offers up amazing views as visitors can also enjoy looking at the beautiful Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, which lies just north of the Los Cabos. The beauty of Cabo is enough to make you never want to leave.

Let’s start with the water aspect of Cabo. Since it has a large marina and bay area, Cabo is able to offer some amazing scuba and snorkeling locations. This protected bay area is home to many tropical fish species as well as abundant plant life. Most varieties of fish can be found quite close to the shores of Baja Peninsula and the islands surrounding it. As many as 900 species of fish have been identified in these waters as there is a greater abundance of marine life in Cabo than in any other gulf in the world. There are many places where you can purchase scuba and snorkeling packages so that you can get up close and personal with all this marine life. It is guaranteed that you will have a great time looking at the wonders that exist in the Cabo waters.

Cabo also has some of the best sport fishing in the world. In fact it is home to the world’s largest Marlin tournament. If you thoroughly enjoy sports fishing, you will find that Cabo San Lucas has great fishing pretty much all year round. The best months to go are from October through June, but you can still expect some good fishing no matter when you go. The fish varieties you can mostly expect to catch are wahoo, striped marlin, yellowtail, tuna, sailfish, and dorado. As far as fishing options go, fishing charters are by far the most popular options. These charters are available for small groups as well as for individual fisherman. Fishing is a great way to take advantage of the water that Cabo has.

Fishing in Cabo

Yet another great feature of the Cabo waters is the amazing possibility for you to see whales. Each year gray whales make their migration the warm Cabo waters, which makes it a prime place to watch these graceful creatures. While in Cabo, the whales have their young so you are in for some incredibly intimate sightings of the mama whales with their young. You will truly be amazed at how breathtaking these whales are in their natural environment. Whether you choose to go kayaking into the waters or take a whaling tour boat, you will not regret spending the money to go look at these giants of the sea.
