Knowing What to Look For
Dairy Products- There is a popular GM hormone that is used in a lot of the dairy products that we buy. Look for labels that read rBST free. This means that the harmful GM hormone is not used in that product. This is very popular to look for on a milk container. The organic type may only be the safe kind of fruits and vegetables to consume as the GM produce is injected with pesticides.
You could spend hours in the grocery store trying to determine which is the healthiest can of spaghetti sauce to get. It is a good idea to do some research before you go to the store. This way you have enough time to prepare. It is helpful to do some research on certain companies. This way, if you see something at this store with this brand, you know that you are safe buying it. There are some shopping guides that you can find online called the “Non GMO Shopping Guide”. This guide already lists what brands are non GMO and which ones are not. The worst thing you can do for your body is buy pre packed meals whether it is frozen or sitting on the shelf at your supermarket. After you do your research and find out which ingredients are organic, you can make home cooked meals for your entire family to enjoy. Knowing what you put in your meals is the best way to live. It is hard to even enjoy a meal at a restaurant anymore because you are unsure of what ingredients are used.

This is another good way to find out if the product you are buying is organic or not. When at the grocery store, if something is not marked as “organic” and you are unsure, all you need to do is read the PLU number. If this number starts with the number 8, it is a GM product. If this number starts with the number 9, you can rest assured that this is organic. This is a helpful and quick way to ensure that you are buying healthy food.
Shop at Health Stores
Many people shop at health food stores for their vitamins, herbs and other health related products. Some don’t even think about shopping at these stores for food. Many natural health stores have a wide variety of food. Shopping at these stores is a great way to ensure you are buying natural. Health food stores only stock food that is good for you and safe to buy. You can be in and out of this store in no time since you do not have to worry about carefully reading every detail of the label. Even if you find the store to be a bit pricey, it is a good idea to at least buy your eggs, milk and meat at these stores to make sure you are avoiding the heavily processed foods.
Work With a Farmer
Buying eggs, meat, raw milk or fresh produce directly from a farmer is a smart idea as long as you can verify that he does not use GM material. Most farmers are anti GMO and will probably have many great products that you can purchase directly through them. You will be able to tell if his eggs are cage free if his chickens are freely roaming throughout his farm. When chickens are locked up in cages with dozens of other chickens, you know you are not getting the best eggs for your body.

Grow Your Own Produce
To ensure that the vegetables and fruit you are eating is 100% safe the best option is to grow your own produce. The only thing you need to do is make sure that your seeds are non GMO when you buy them. The package will be clearly labeled as organic so you know for sure. If you choose to do this, it is a good idea to buy some organic soil and fertilizer so you can be sure that your crops will grow easily. You really do not know what was in your soil beforehand. Doing a pH test is a great idea before you plant as well.
