Ways to Help the Survivors of the Earthquake in Haiti

By Edited Jan 13, 2016 1 4

In the wake of the earthquake in Haiti, there has been an out pouring of support and love that has gone through the world. The pictures and videos of the damage and aftermath of what happened in this third world country can only be seen as catastrophic. That is why it so important to find ways to help the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. It is not enough to just feel bad about what has happened to these poor people. Now is a time when everyone should look at the blessings that you have and to show the gratitude for these towards those whose lives have been devastated. There are many ways that you can choose to help.
Number One
One of the most important things that is need for the people of the earthquake in Haiti is money. The reason that this is so important is that the money can be used to buy things in bulk that people will have need of in this country. Your $20 may only buy a little bit of supplies here at home. When it is put together with $20 from lets say 100 people from across the globe, it can buy the much needed clean water and clothes that people who have lost everything will depend on as they rebuild.
There are a few ways that you can donate money to the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. One of the most popular and secure ways to donate money is through the Red Cross. The Red Cross is a great organization that is now collecting money and giving information about the area that this act of nature has affected. The Red Cross is posting information on their website and taking donations, as well as on their facebook page.
Another way that you can give to the funds to help those in need is to go through your local television station. Many news programs have started collections on their websites for survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. This is one of the ways that you can make sure that your money goes to good use. There will be plenty of scams trying to prey on the good intentions of those that want to help. Do not let this happen to you.
Number Two
If you do not feel that you have the money to spare to help the survivors, there is another way. You can raise money to put towards your efforts for those that were in the earthquake in Haiti. You can easily bring together family, friends, and even coworkers to make a difference. A bake sale or rummage sale is a great way to raise money. You will be amazed at how many people will want to rush to your aid in your plans. There is power in numbers and you can use this to your advantage.

geargirl, since it's similar....just thought you'd be interested in THIS blog article I found today...

Users are apparently putting some pressure on eHow to help monetarily. Would be nice....

Yes it would be. It would at least make it easier to move past the fact that they have been stealing money from us for over 6 months if they at least give some back.

In all fairness though, I've been trying to put some pressure on Info Barrel, as well, to do the same.... :)

Would be nice...but, Info Barrel isn't quite as established as eHow, and, I'm a bit more understanding if they can't.....I did speak to Ryan in the past, and he said that they earn about enough to pay 2 salaries.....might not exactly be "scraping by"....but, not enough to make a significant multi-million dollar contribution like eHow could....

I think one thing Info Barrel could do that would not be as direct of a hit on their finances is to replace all the front page articles that have already been up far too long and place all the articles related to Haiti on the front page.

The article I have written will directly benefit the people of Haiti as the earnings will go to them and the more exposure my article gets, the more money can be sent.-- I'm sure there are others doing the same.

Even those who are not are still keeping this issue in the face of everyone, which needs to happen.

I've preached to people about the "hands on" and "caring" style here at Info Barrel. I; for one, will decide upon the way I promote Info Barrel by their actions in this matter.
