Wedding Centerpieces

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Over the years I have seen many brides making the same mistake: they are so concerned about the look of the wedding centerpieces that they end up being too over the top and more distracting than decorative. I hear you asking: how is that possible? Surely the centerpieces should look astonishing and be the center of attention at any wedding reception. Well, sorry to tell you folks that is not the case! I have been to many weddings only to hear the whispers across the tables regarding ornaments, decorations and even down to the "awful" wedding theme.

What your guests want is to be impressed but not over-impressed. Nobody wants to have their efforts badly criticized for trying too hard! When it comes to your wedding centerpieces, try to be subtle and elegant at the same time. You want the centerpieces to go according to your wedding theme, without them looking "too much". I will give you a few tips on how to achieve the best results and have your guests praise you and admire your magnificent taste!

One big mistake brides usually make is to have the wedding centerpieces take over the overall table decor. Keep sizes in mind; if your tables are small don't kill the look by placing big centerpieces. Keep it simple: the centerpieces should be also small. Remember that with round tables you have less room to work with (as opposed to square ones).

If you are set to add some impact, ask your florist to provide mirrors that you can arrange nicely around the centerpieces. The result: you don't have to have big centerpieces and the mirrors will add depth to the overall look. Also, you save on space while at the same time adding some nice extra light to the tables. Another way to add light is to place candles. They are very romantic, which is great for the occasion, and will set the mood without you having to spend a lot of money.

If you really want to have tall wedding centerpieces, try for the one long flower on a large, elegant, narrow vase. Thin white vases work very well and don't block the guests view when having a conversation.

Always remember it is not just about the centerpiece. Add other elements like confetti or glitter in your wedding colors for that spark. Some people prefer to move away from the traditional flower centerpiece. You can be very creative: do you share a special interest with your partner? Your wedding centerpieces could reflect this. When one of my friends got married, she already had five children. She placed lovely framed photographs of her children on the tables which added a lot of fun and were great conversation starters.

Whichever way you decide to go, remember to keep it simple and elegant, not over the top. Your personality should always shine through your choice of wedding decor!
