Weight Loss and Hypnosis
Many studies have highlighted the many benefits of hypnosis and hypnotherapy in weight loss. In general terms, hypnotherapy should help people have the ability to change their habits which result in slimmer, healthier bodies. However, weight loss and becoming slimmer are goals typically more complex than say smoking for example. In smoking the goal is clear and simple – no more inhalation of cigarette smoke. Whereas with weight loss, what is the mechanism that is going to be used to lose weight, exercise and or nutrition and diet change? For one person, the introduction of exercise could be the simple goal and for others, the removal of a certain food from one's diet could be another.
During most first hypnosis weight loss sessions the hypnotherapist and the client typically come to agreement on a simple and easily obtainable goals. It could be the simple removal of chocolate from one's diet to the introduction of a 30 minute walk every morning for 30 days. The hypnosis and hypnotherapy used will help implement and support both or either strategy in this case to make the transition to these habits easier. Please view below other examples of relevant goals.
Some examples of specific goals are:
"I don't buy or eat chocolate"
"When I buy take-away it's Japanese instead of Pizza"
"I go to the gym every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch time"
"I don't drink alcohol unless it's a social function"
Compare these to vague goals such as:
"I'm going to eat less fatty food"
"I'm going to exercise more"
"I'm going to cut back on my drinking"
The hypnosis weight loss second appointment is typically one week after the first to discuss the results and to reinforce those goals as well as to further implement habits tailored to your specific requirements and goals to lose weight. A third session should occur about one month later. Assuming the first goals has been established and maintained for five weeks a second goal is formulated and motivated using hypnosis and hypnotherapy. The process continues until sufficient behavioral changes have been established to result in overall and desired weight loss changes.
