What Are My Pillow Pets?
My Pillow Pets is a trademarked name of the company that produces excellent stuffed animals that also have the unusual other feature of being comfortable pillows, as well. This unusual but practical idea started with a San Diego mother back in early 2005 according to the company website, when she was picking up stuffed animals everywhere and started wondering if there was a way to mix a practical use with her children's favorite toys. That idea eventually led to the original Pillow Pets, which would eventually go from a small business to a full blow company.
The key to these toys is a little Velcro strip that is on the underbelly of the stuffed plush animal toy. If this Velcro strip is attached, then the Pillow Pet is a stuffed animal that can be carried around wherever the child chooses to drag the toy. However, removing the Velcro strap causes the stuffed animal to spread out, forming into a comfortable and soft nap time pillow. This very unique design has done well with consumers, in large part because kids absolutely love them. Instead of having to find their favorite stuffed animal for night time, their favorite stuffed animal is their nap time pillow.
This unusual process meshes common sense and practicality without taking away any of the fun and enjoyment that a child has to have in order to really enjoy their gifts. As of 2010, there were over 35 different designs of My Pillow Pets, with more new designs to appear in the future. The animals range from several cats, bunnies, and dogs to more unusual animals like stuffed dolphins, penguins, frogs, or moose. This variety has only helped to make these toys extremely popular among both parents and children.
There are many different types of toys for parents and grandparents to choose from, but stuffed animals rarely go out of fashion. These Pillow Pets bring a nice new twist to a modern classic, and it's not hard to see why they've become so popular.
