What Are Pool Solar Panels
Pool solar panels collect the heat from the sun and convert this heat into energy which can be used to heat up your swimming pool. Basically it is a heat exchanger with copper pipes that run parallel with each other. These copper pipes are painted black because this color absorbs the most heat and energy from the sun. They work like this, cold water runs into the heat exchanger and has it travels up and down the black copper parallel pipework it slowly heats up and comes out at the other end warmer.
How hot the sun is, the water flow rate and the diameter of the pipes will all determine how hot the water will be on its way into your pool. Pool solar panels with thinner pipes usually produce the best results, because there is less surface area to warm up. These solar panels have many advantages, the main one being that they are easy to maintain and will serve you well for decades to come. It will cost you a bit of money at first to buy them, but they will quickly return the money you invested in them with the money that you save with traditional heating methods such as electricity.
Installing pool solar panels is a fairly straight forward job, but first you will need to calculate how many panels you will need to heat up your pool. Once you have this amount and you have purchased your panels. you will then need to place them in the spot next to your pool that gets the most sun during the day. Once you have you pool solar panels in place next to your pool its time to hook up all the inlet and outlet pipework to the panels and to the pump. Once you have got anything securely fastened together you will then need to switch on the pump and check for any leaks.
To get the most energy out of a pool solar panel system, its very important that you only run the pump during daylight hours and always make sure you switch the pump off when it gets dark to prevent cooling. To keep your pool even warmer I suggest you use a solar pool blanket to stop heat escaping from your pool when its not in use. These blankets do not cost that much money and they really do help in keeping your pool nice and warm.
