What Are the Best Hair Clippers?

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 3

Whether you're looking for a replacement of just buying your first pair, if you're looking for the best hair clippers on the market, remember that this decision can depend on the features you want and how much you're willing to pay. Hair clippers come in many different styles, brands and models, each with its own features, and they can cost anywhere from around $15 to more than $100. In this article, we'll take a look at the best hair clippers in several different price ranges, including the average customer reviews, advantages and disadvantages of each product, to help you decide which ones are right for you.

The Best Hair Clippers Under $25

Drug stores and department stores often carry many brands of hair clippers under $25, and if you're on a budget, you may have difficulty choosing between them. According to dozens of satisfied customers, the Andis 29775 11-Piece Home Hair-Cutting Kit contains one of the best hair clippers available. Not only does the kit cost less than $25 when purchased on Amazon.com ($24.77 at the time of this writing), it also includes a storage case, four different attachment combs to get hair any length you want, two different barber combs, a blade brush, stainless steel hair cutting shears and lubricating blade oil to keep the clippers in the best condition.

In addition to being a fantastic, inexpensive option for cutting your hair at home, the Andis kit is also one of the best hair clippers for men to use for shaving their faces and women can even use them to shave their legs with very little irritation. It provides a shave almost as close as a regular razor but you won't get those nasty razor bumps. It works great on your hair for touch-ups or complete home hair cuts, whether you want to shave your head or just give it a trim. The clipper received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from Amazon.com customers and continues to be a favorite in this price range. The only disadvantage of these clippers is that the motor can be a little loud, but you can't complain too much for the price.

The Best Hair Clippers Under $50

If you're willing to spend a little more money, you can get an even better set of hair clippers. The Wahl Professional 8685 Peanut Classic Clipper is a lightweight, sturdy and extremely effective hair clipper that gets the job done without being too bulky. It weighs only 4 oz. and includes a blade guard, lubricating blade oil, finger ring and cleaning brush. Most customers attest that the peanut lasts for years and still performs as well as it did the first day of purchase. And, you can't beat the price ($34.60 on Amazon.com at the time of this writing). Many drug stores also have this product available for well under the $50 mark.

This is one of the best clippers for at-home hair cuts, and would probably even work well for shaving because of its small size and durability. These clippers received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon.com. Many professional hair stylists use this model, which also speaks for its quality. Now, however, you can have the same quality in your own home for very little price. You'll save tons of money cutting your family's hair at home with the peanut versus going to a salon every few months.

The Best Professional Hair Clippers

If you're looking for the best professional hair clippers available and you don't mind spending a lot of money, you can typically find some very good brands in the $100 to $150 range. One of the best brands at this price is the Oster Classic 76 Hair Clipper. It's an extremely powerful, heavy-duty clipper that even cuts through heavy, wet hair with ease. Although it costs around $125 on Amazon.com, if you invest in this clipper, you may never have to buy another one. If you're tired of replacing your inexpensive hair clippers, try stepping up to what one customer dubbed the "Cadillac" of hair clippers. These clippers continue to be a bestseller and received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon.com.

The Oster Classic doesn't get bogged down by thick hair, and it works smoothly with all hair types. It gives you professional results at home and really can't be beat when it comes to quality and efficiency. The product typically only comes with two standard blades, so you may have to buy more blades in different sizes if you need them. It also comes with a virtually unbreakable blade guard, lubricating blade oil, clipper grease and cleaning oil to keep the clippers in the best condition possible. Consider these hair clippers as an investment in yourself because you'll use them for years to come.

I use an Oster Classic 76 and it has yet to fail me. Not a single problem since I purchased it. I usually trim down hair with my equally loyal Saki Katana shears and then finish off with my Oster. Perfect results.
