What Is A Planetary Mixer?

By | Aug 3, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

A planetary mixer design includes blades manufactured to revolve about their axis and orbit the mixer's bowl simultaneously. These mixers are specifically constructed to do the intensive kneading needed to make very thick materials like adhesives, pastes, or sealants useable. Because the blades rotate, they mix all parts of the substance equally so it meets specifications for the material.

There are several kinds of planetary mixers including the single, double, and commercial.

The single planetary mixer has a single rotating blade. These units are small and not as powerful as the other units. They are appropriate for use by small businesses or in homes that need to mix substances that are moderately thick such as batter for pancakes. However, the single blade may not be able to handle bread dough unless the recipe is compatible with the mixer.

The double planetary mixer has two blades that rotate around a mixing bowl that are oriented on the central axis. Another name for these mixers is twin shaft. The shafts also rotate on what is known as the sun gear. They will mix a thick liquid in the amount desired by the user.

A planetary mixer designed for commercial use is categorized by mixing bowl size. The countertop model has a 5 to 8-quart capacity and looks like an ordinary counter mixer used at home. Designed for light duty work they are appropriate for small businesses with a moderate need for daily food preparation.

With a capacity of 10 to 24-quarts the commercial bench mixer bowl is larger and suited for heavier use than countertop models. These units are mounted on a strong work bench and suitable for practically all commercial uses.

The floor mixer is the usual choice for restaurants because of their flexibility of use. The floor units are freestanding with a capacity of 30 to 80-quarts. They are large enough to handle substances that expand when they are mixed. This means that large batches can be mixed at once instead of mixing several smaller batches. This means a saving in time. In addition to a larger capacity, these units have a strong motor that will stand up to the workload of busy restaurants.

The planetary mixer is not limited to restaurant or home use; the planetary concrete mixer has become an indispensable piece of equipment for most construction industry needs. The planetary concrete mixer design is also called countercurrent.

Planetary mixers come in three sizes and the number of mixing stars varies from one to three with three being the largest capacity. The stars rotate around the bowl's center and also revolve about themselves. This means the mixing arms cover the complete mixer for a specific amount of revolutions. This aspect results in rapid mixing, an even consistency and a large output of concrete. Some models deliver a complete, high quality load of durable and dense concrete in no more than 30 seconds following introduction of water.

A planetary mixer is certainly not necessary for all mixing needs, but for projects that need consistency, and dependability ib mixing, these machines fit the purpose perfectly.
