So what exactly is the first step in building a business on the internet?

Short answer: It's to take your internet business dream and turn it into a specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, time-bound GOAL. You have to know what you're shooting for in life and in business. Do you want to earn an extra $1000 a month? Do you want to completely replace your income? Do you want to get rich online? What's your goal?

Longer answer: The first step is setting a goal for 1 reason and 1 reason only: Setting goals is extremely powerful. When done right, setting a goal can help you reach a real breakthrough in starting a business on the internet. You should do this intelligently. Run a google search for S.M.A.R.T. goals and you'll quickly learn how to set the best goal for yourself in the right way. But with setting a goal comes a responsibility: you have to begin taking action immediately towards reaching your goal. Someone once told me that whatever goal you set for yourself, you must reach it. If you don't reach your goal, you will feel like a failure. That's why it's never a bad idea to start with a smaller goal. Don't set a goal to earn $1,000,000 through your internet business if you have never earned $1,000. Dream big, but start small. A wise man once said: "Incremental improvement is better than epic failure".

I wanted to include a bonus concept about reaching your goals that I got from America's #1 Success Coach: Jack Canfield. He highly recommends that you practice what he calls "The Rule of 5". Take 5 steps every day towards your goal. If you take 5 steps every single day towards your goal, you will eventually reach it.

That's all for now folks. Thanks for lending me your eyeballs for a couple of minutes.

Until next time!
