Eat right
Do you want your hair to grow and look healthy? It is important to eat a healthy and balanced diet and get all the necessary vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in your body, even for your hair. Avoid or cut down on so-called junk foods that are high in fat and salt. Some vitamin supplements can boost your hair growth, especially B vitamins, beta carotene and silica.

Keep your hydrated
Your hair needs plenty of moisture to stay healthy. Therefore, make sure you get a professional hair treatment from time to time. They usually last for 5 to 20 minutes. Ask your hairdresser what type is suitable for your hair. You can even buy it and do it on your own, just follow the directions on the bottle. With several of these type of treatments it is recommended to wrap a dry towel or use something keep your hair warm for a better effect of the treatment. There are some treatments that are suppose to be good for preventing your hair from not breaking, or giving you split ends. Treatments, or oils with avocado or shea butter are suppose to be good for this. But ask a professional.

Massage your scalp.
Just as your body once in a while needs a good massage, so does your hair. Your scalp is covered with a layers of dirt, old skin cells and hair oil. All this makes it difficult for your hair to grow through. Give your scalp a real massage for a couple of minutes when you shampoo your hair in the shower. This makes your scalp really clean! The massage also boosts the hair follicles and blood supply, which increases the hair growth further.

Let your hair rest
Styling tools, like your blow dryer or curling iron is will harm your hair. Therefore always make sure you apply a heat protecting product on your head, over your hair, before you start styling it. The best way is to naturally let your hair dry and then  style it. If you feel that you must use a dryer, try not to use it every day. For those of you with long hair, to tie it up in a loose ponytail or something when going to sleep, helps to keep your hair from breaking of.

To reduce stress as much as possibly in our lifes is important, not only for our health, but also for our hair. Did yo know that everyday stress can have a very negative effect on our hair. When we are stressed, or rushed our body reduces the supply of nutrient-rich blood to their hair follicles, which makes your hair dry and can also decrease hair growth. If it gets really bad, you can actually start to loose your hair.

How often should I cut my hair
Cutting your hair every 6-8 weeks, does not mean it will grow faster. But this will at least keep your hair healthy. To wait 3-4 months between hairdresser visits, might mean that your hair gets longer but it is likely that your hair is so worn out that you need to cut it off anyway. Therefore, to get a haircut more regulary, and less, might be the only way to get longer and healthier hair.
