What On Earth Is Beach Baseball?

By | Jan 27, 2010 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

Even in the century we live in today, there are still so many people who aren't sure what beach baseball is. There are actually not that many differences between regular baseball and a game of beach baseball. Of course the most noticeable contrariety is that beach baseball takes place on a sandy beach while regular baseball is on a baseball diamond. The most major difference is that a beach baseball game is played on the beach rather than on a baseball diamond but other than that the rules and regulations all remain the same.

For one thing, during summer when the weather is mild a lot of people prefer to participate in sports on the beach. Rather than feeling as though this is the only way you can go about it, now you can go to the beach with your friends in the summer and still get in a game of your favorite sport. It's definitely a lot more relaxing and because there's a larger space you could have more onlookers to the games as well. Whether you're the coach of a Little League team and want to switch things up a bit or just want to take the friends to the beach for a game, it's important to be prepared.

All the same equipment is needed for these games, and it's important to make sure that your team is fully equipped. They are going to need gloves which help keep their hands from getting injured, especially while catching fly balls and fastballs. Safety gear is also important and especially if you're dealing with younger players. Bats are another major piece of baseball gear that you need if you want to start a game of beach baseball.

As long as they are no more than 42 inches long and 2 ¾ inches in diameter they will be fine to use, as that is the maximum regulation size. Of course there are other pieces of equipment that players may choose to have as well. Some players like to wear a knee or elbow pad which can help by putting pressure on the joints and keeping them from getting swollen. Padding on the elbow for instance can help a pitcher who's stuck pitching thousands of balls in a game.

Beach baseball is a lot of fun when you have all the right equipment. It's a lot of fun and mixes it up a bit from your regular baseball diamond games. You will want to go to the beach ahead of time and plan. Beach baseball can be a lot of fun during the summer and is definitely worth trying out.
