#5 - Xenoblade Chronicles

Experienced gamers and critics have described Xenoblade, the Japanese role-playing game, as ‘supreme’.  Launched only in August, the game has been flying off the shelves all over the world. The visuals are beyond comparison, and there is a travel option that allows easy transportation (when not in the middle of heated combat). There are no plans for an American release, however, meaning US gamers are going to have to be resourceful if they want to source this game at Christmas time.

#4 - Monster Hunter Tri

Riveting online options and superb graphic design helps Monster Hunter Tri into the list at #4. Released in April of last year, the game only really gathered momentum of late and is now one of the best selling Wii games around. Taking down authentic looking wild monsters in a kind of tropical idyll setting is the kind of game that would suit most people, after all. This is a good choice for anybody who likes aesthetically pleasing, but intense combat.

This is a game with a whimsical, magical feel, great characters with a lot of personality and super functionality on the Wii. Gamers in waiting are looking forward to new voice actors and a colorful storyline that is a trademark of the franchise. This is also a good Wii game for starter players over the holidays.

#1 - Spider-Man: Edge of Time

This will be released in mid-October, and previews thusfar have been very positive. This Nintendo Wii game will be very dynamic and full of movement. Key to this game's success will be the proliferation of Spider-Man specific tricks and capabilities, and the developer seems to have eliminated any generic actions from Spider-Man’s repertoire. Because of this, expect a lot of climbing, jumping and dangling in a pacey and energetic new release for Wii that is #1 in my top ten for this Christmas holiday season.
