What are the Top Five Gifts for Beginner Walkers?

By 0 0

Do you have a little one who is on the verge of walking or has just begun taking those first tentative steps?  If so, there are many toys that can help develop and enhance your baby’s confidence and curiosity as they achieve this gigantic milestone. My hope for you is that this article saves you time as I have already done some extensive research on the best and most current products on the market today.  I also have first hand personal experience with a ten month old son who is a daring and eager early walker! With the holiday’s right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking of practical and useful gifts for your baby. Coming up with useful gifts for babies this age can be tough, but with this type of gift you definitely can’t go wrong. The only problem that I foresee is that you are going to want every one of these products…or maybe that’s just my problem ;). As with all toys it is important to supervise and monitor your child as they are playing with it and to be aware of any safety concerns.

NOTE about this article: Though published to my InfoBarrel account, this article, and the accompanying research behind it, was conceived of by my wife. Right on the verge of walking, just shy of 1 year old at the time of this writing and publication, we currently own two of the products listed below. The remaining 3 are actually on our wish list for our son. We have already found two of these products to be extremely useful and beneficial, which means we will likely purchase the remaining beginner walker products shortly.

#1) Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Fun with Friends Musical Table

This is an excellent toy to use when your baby is starting to stand on his own and needs to develop balance and muscle strength. This musical table will help provide baby with the coordination that he needs to take his first steps. Let me just say that my son LOVES this toy! I cannot rave enough about this. He will stand and play with it several times during the day…and this allows me to get much needed cleaning done! It encourages your baby to be interactive as it lights up, plays music, and teaches letters and numbers. With excellent reviews this is a toy worth splurging on. Like I mentioned earlier, this toy is perfect for when your baby is FIRST learning how to stand to help strength those muscles!

#2) VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker

Once your baby has developed coordination and is taking those first steps this is the perfect toy for them. Very interactive and colorful, the Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker will keep them going for hours. I also think this is a very good price and runs a lot less than some of the other walker and is totally worth the investment.  I have spoken to other Mom’s who say that this product is “very sturdy” and their baby can “pull themselves up without tipping over.” I have heard several stories of children who have tipped over from some of the walkers on the market so it’s important to research! My friend’s daughter learned to walk after one month of using this toy and cannot rave enough about it.

#3) Fisher-Price Go Baby Go! Stride-to-Ride Dino

Let me say that this is an ADORABLE toy and babies look SO cute when they are walking with it. This walker is definitely on the pricier side but has some added benefits as it transforms from a walker to a ride-on toy. The back wheels can lock together and there is a little seat that locks securely, allowing your baby/toddler to go for a sweet ride. Some added benefits that I have heard regarding this toy is that it turns more easily than others and that it does not tip easily (more sturdy). It can also be pushed on carpet as tile as well as hardwood floor. Very interactive, the Dino sings as the baby walks with it and if the music ever drives you nuts you can turn it OFF.

#4) Plan Toy Baby Walker

This walker is a true gem. Not only is it a sturdy and a well made walker but it is BEAUTIFUL to look at as it is made with All Natural Organic Recycled Rubber Wood. Designed for ages 10 months-3 years this work of art will help children develop their gross motor skills needed for walking. It is also designed to stimulate coordination as they practice pushing, controlling, and stopping the walker. While it is more on the steeper price range this toy speaks for itself with its five star ratings. There is an adjustable handle so that it can grow with your baby. The base of the walker is filled with color and natural blocks which will keep kids intrigued for years to come. The blocks are a way to stimulate creativity and imagination. This would be the ideal gift for your little beginner walker.

#5) Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Stride-to-Ride Puppy

This well priced and multi-purposeful toy can be used for babies who have not quite grasped walking and for fast-paced toddlers. Recommended for ages 18months to 36 months, this intriguing walker provides engaging music and positive phrases such as “Great job” while baby is scooting or walking along.  The words of encouragement give babies motivation to try over and over again. The puppy easily converts from a sit toy to walker to a ride-on toy.  You will be delighted as The Stride-to-Ride Puppy provides 50 songs, tunes, and phrases that will teach your baby about colors, numbers, letters, greetings, manners, and opposites. All of this for a VERY reasonable price.  There are also three blocks provided with which the babies can “feed” them through the puppies moveable mouth. If you want a toy that your baby will play and be intrigued with for a long time than this is it! Sometimes I even find myself humming one of the songs as they are quite catchy.

After all of the research I did and from personal experience the toys listed above are the most useful, practical, and cost-effective walking utilities for your babies. It’s important to choose one that is the most practical for your family. I hope that I was able to give you some insight on what is available and currently on the market and that I also gave you some good gift ideas for the upcoming holidays. It is very important that your baby has the tools he/she needs in developing his gross motor skills. Happy shopping!
