What is a Hot Steam Pressure Washer?

By | Nov 8, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Why use your regular old garden hose for outdoor cleaning when you could use a powerful pressure washer. Better yet, how about a pressure washer that uses hot water. If you tried to pour hot water into a pressure washer that is intended to be used with cold water, you'll have a real problem on your hands. The reason for this is because the internal components of these everyday washers can be damages with heat. Hot pressure washers use a heating element powered by electricity to quickly heat water to amazingly hot levels. The water is so scalding hot that it could easily cause third degree burns.

You may wonder why water would ever need to be this hot. Heated water cleans far more effectively than cold, stirring up the dirt atoms and allowing them to be removed easier. Hot water can clean things that cold water never could, including grease and oil. The hot water is fired out of the nozzle at high speed, scouring off any dirt it comes across. Ideally, one should hold the hot pressure washer nozzle a couple of inches away from the dirty surface. Holding it too close, especially with an aggressive nozzle, can eat away at the surface. Basic home needs, however, do not require this level of power. An average consumer only needs to perform light to medium cleaning duties around the yard.

In fact, washers are out of the budget of many consumers. A more reliable and affordable solution lies in electric and consumer gasoline pressure washers. Electric washers are a hot item right now because they are quiet and easy to maintain. Regardless of the power source, all washers are rated in PSI which refers to the maximum water pressure. Another rating known as GPM measures the water flow per minute. Both units should be looked at to determine the right power for you. Any good steam pressure washer will come with accessories such as an extra hohot se and additional nozzles.
