What is a detox cleanse and do we need it

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Detox cleanse is a buzzword in the 21st century. Everybody seems to be talking about detoxing this and detoxing that. There seems to be plenty of methods of detoxification including detoxing diets, detoxing foot pads, and I recently came across a detoxing dog which I hope is a joke.

Since the beginning of time there have been toxins in our atmosphere and these toxins have been affecting us. We have developed immunity to most of them and our bodies have learned how to deal with the, but in the last couple of hundred years we have been adding our own pollutants to our atmosphere and our lives. These pollutants come in the form of toxins in the air that we are breathing, in our general environment, in the food that we are eating, and more harmfully in the drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes that we are using. I believe that these toxins really do clog up your system and make you feel lethargic.

I am a great proponent of the detox cleanse in the form of nutritional intake. I believe that you can help your body to eliminate more toxins by choosing the right types of food to eat. We have been blessed by God (or evolution) with our own filtering and waste systems which work pretty well for us. The only times these systems begin to show signs of problems or indeed begin to shut down are when we are truly over-loading them with toxins. This is often apparent in drug abusers or long-term alcoholics where you will see liver and kidney damage, and you will also see damage to the intestines and colon. So it does really show that toxins can affect you. So, if we are affected by large-scale abuse, then we must be affected on a smaller scale.

One of my favorites ways of using the detox cleanse is through what some people may call the fruit diet. This is basically where I eat only fruit for a period of time, normally three days for me. It difficult for the first day because my body is pining for protein and carbohydrates, but after the third day I always really feel revitalized and full of energy. There are many other similar diets today such as the lemon detox diet, the grapefruit diet, and the vegetable diet. They all basically have similar attributes and results, I just like the taste of fruit. There is also the detox colon cleanse which involves a colonic irrigation, this is because a lot of the toxins have built up over time in the intestines and colon.

Anyway, the question was do we really need to detox. In my opinion the answer is that anything that you can do to help your body to rid itself of harmful chemicals is a beneficial thing for your body. There are plenty of ways of doing it and none of them should cost you much money. So yes, detox cleanse is a good thing.
