Your standard shot glass pictured in this article is what most bartenders use and if filled to the top will hold 1.5oz of liquid.

While this may be the standard shot glasses, a variety of shot glasses are available, ranging in volume from 1oz to 10+oz.  Often times in bars and establishments, shooters are placed in 1oz shot glasses and sold at a discount.
