By Edited Nov 15, 2016 0 0

Acne affects millions of people every single year. It is the most common skin condition treated by dermatologists, and oftentimes called the ‘teen disease’ since it affects so many during their teen years. When acne strikes it can be very embarrassing. For some people a low self-esteem and even conditions like depression can result because of acne. If you are one of the people who is seeing pimples and zits on your face and you want to do something about it, keep reading.

The first thing to do is to stay calm. It is not the end of the world- most people will have at least one or two pimple outbreaks during the course of their lifetime. You also want to avoid picking at the inflammation or trying to pop it. This can cause further irritation and inflammation not to mention cause more acne to develop since you are pushing bacteria back underneath the skin.

Keeping your skin clean is also something that you want to do to keep acne at bay. It takes washing your face twice per day to keep the skin clear and the pores unclogged. Your face will look and feel great and an acne-free complexion is there for you, too.

At the first sign of a pimple find an acne treatment and start using it. There are a ton of different products out there. Find a product that is designed for your skin type and use it faithfully. Also look into the spot treatments that are available that may provide faster clearing of this skin condition.

Finally, make sure that you know when it is time to call in help. A dermatologist is a skin doctor that can help you treat your acne. While you can make an appointment as soon as you see acne, most people try other methods first. In most case the dermatologist is needed for moderate to severe cases of acne and people with less severe cases can treat it with over-the-counter products. However, if you've saw no results after three months, it is time to see a dermatologist.

Remember that acne isn’t going to clear overnight, and it takes regular care to keep your skin free and clear from the skin condition. You must take care of yourself if you want  to look your best, and this mean treating your skin to a few different treatments each and every day. Don’t let acne bring you down when you prevent and treat it so easily.
